My recent U‑Haul rental was frustrating from start to finish. The day before pickup, U‑Haul changed my location without any notice or explanation, which immediately added extra mileage to my trip. When I arrived, the truck was dirty inside and the gas tank wasn’t full, which is unacceptable for a vehicle I’m paying to rent. Returning the truck was another headache. The location I was originally told to return it to had apparently been “unauthorized” as of the day before—again, no communication from U‑Haul. I had to drive an additional 5 miles to a different location and explain the situation myself. To make matters worse, I didn’t realize the rental had limited mileage. Because U‑Haul changed both my pickup and drop‑off locations, I went over the mileage limit, and the overage charges were higher than they should have been. Overall, the lack of communication, the condition of the truck, and the unexpected mileage charges made this a disappointing experience.
