I made an online reservation for a 10x10 climate-controlled unit. Check-in initially went smoothly, but when my husband opened the unit, there was already a sofa and mattress inside. I went back to the office to let the employee know and no one was in the building. I waited about five minutes before he returned. He apologized and told me the only other option was two 5x5 units side by side. I asked if that meant I would need to purchase another key, and after checking, he instead moved me to a unit on the first floor. Once I got home, I looked at my invoice in the app and realized I was being charged more because the replacement unit was on the first floor. At no point was I told that moving me because of an issue with the original unit would result in a higher rate. If a customer reserves a specific unit and there is a problem on the company's end, I would expect the replacement to be honored at the original price—or, at the very least, for the customer to be told beforehand that the price would increase. I work in retail, and this was a disappointing example of customer service. My belongings are already in the unit, but I will be moving them out and taking my business elsewhere.

I reserved a cargo van online and when I went to pick it up there were more fees and the young man at the counter was extremely rude about it. I opted or of an insurance online but was told I could not rent from them if I didn't purchase it. That was another $30+ I wasn't planning on budget wise. It's bad enough that you guys charge over $1 per mile plus $6 a gallon for gas if it's not at the exact spot on the guage when returned. On the past I've returned uhauls that were barely under the mark and was charged an insane amount to FILL the gas tank yet I recieved the rental with 1/4 tank of gas. Now the storage unit prices are ridiculously overpriced. I had to literally throw out furniture because I couldn't afford the unit I needed sure to the extra $30+ insurance charge that I was forced to pay for. I'll never rent from U-HAUL again. I'll go with enterprise the next time for the unlimited mileage because if I had this time, it would have saved me over $100
