I ordered both the U-Haul and U-Haul storage space online. We were able to pick up the truck with no issues. The storage unit I ordered was a 10x15 and move-in was scheduled for 11/10/25. I called the U-Haul storage facility on 11/8/25 and asked if we could check-in to the storage unit early on 11/9/25. The first person I spoke to put me on hold and then disconnected me. I called back and spoke to a very kind and professional woman who said it was no issue to check in early on 11/9 and no further action needed to be taken. When we got to the facility on 11/9 to move-in the man working the counter said that the unit we ordered was not ready and we could not move-in. I went online to update my check-in date to 11/9 and was able to do so. Obviously it didn't matter but the website did allow me to order a 10x15 unit and update my check-in date online even though it was not available. We returned to the U-Haul storage facility on 11/10, the man working the counter stated that while yes they did have our reservation they did not have a storage unit in the size we ordered - the biggest size they had available was a 10x13. We had to make this work for obvious reasons. Additionally, this may be somewhere in the contract, so please disregard if so, but the specific lock requirement for storage should be clearly stated somewhere. We purchased a nice, expensive master lock with key and this was not sufficient. We had to purchase a specific required lock from this facility. Overall terrible experience.
