The hours of accessibility is why I left. I do a majority of my storage duties in the late afternoon and evening hours.
Joleen M | Overall ExperienceThis facility is OK, and I would do a short term rental here again, but they have some ongoing electronic issues which does make me a little nervous on a security stand point though. I moved from this facility to another facility because they made a full time change and shortened the access hours to where it didn't fit in my schedule to benefit me long term. The shortened hours on Sunday especially makes it difficult and doesn't justify the full price still being charged when it was originally a 24 hour facility. This was why I originally rented here.

Rhonda H | First ImpressionsSummary of Events - I reserved an exterior storage unit through U-Haul’s website, which explicitly listed availability at the location selected. - Upon arrival, I was informed that no exterior units were available. Staff claimed not to know how such a reservation was even possible. - I was offered no refund or cancellation option. Instead, I was pressured into accepting an interior unit, which I reluctantly agreed to due to lack of alternatives. - The interior unit, unlike the originally requested exterior unit, came with restricted access hours. - These restricted hours directly prevented me from completing my move-in as scheduled, requiring an additional truck rental day, along with associated mileage and fuel costs. - The following day, an employee from the location texted me with a threat to report the truck as stolen — despite the fact that staff had themselves obstructed our attempt to offload into the unit the prior afternoon due to restricted access hours. - A billing notice was later sent by email, but upon clicking the included link, I was redirected to my U-Haul account, which stated I had no active rentals. - I then attempted to contact the facility directly by phone to resolve billing and payment. The staff member answered and said, “I’m not in the office right now, I’ll call you back in five minutes.” No call was returned. Over an hour has passed since that promise. Key Concerns 1. False Reservation and Forced Upsell - The unit I reserved was advertised as available, yet unavailable in reality. I was offered a more restrictive alternative under pressure. - No refund or good-faith correction was offered or provided. 2. Restricted Access Resulting in Measurable Loss - The upsell to an interior unit included access limitations not present in exterior units in conjunction with an increase in monthly rent from $94.95 to $113.90. - As a direct result of this restriction, I incurred the cost of: - An additional day of truck rental - Additional mileage fees - Additional fuel charges 3. Account Access Failure - Despite receiving a billing reminder, my U-Haul account falsely indicates that I have no active rentals. - I am unable to review, confirm, or pay for the unit currently in use. 4. Negligent Customer Service - A staff member at the facility failed to follow through on a time-sensitive phone payment request. - This represents a direct obstruction to resolving my account status and avoiding delinquency.

Jason J | First ImpressionsThe staff is friendly and helpful. Too bad the abandoned mall the storage facility is located is not secure and prone to break ins and trespassing. Also some of the outside keypads don't function. This is not U Haul of Galesburg's fault but rather the owner of the abandoned mall the business is located in. The staff keeps the storage facility clean, but the florescent lights are falling, especially towards the rear of the facility. If I were the business owner I'd be upset with the mall ownership. This used to be a 24 hour facility, but with the break-ins and no security they are now 12 hours only.
