Paul M | Overall ExperienceThe general manager was very rude and disrespectful. The night that I was trying to clear out the storage unit I left a few things behind and I went inside with my boyfriend to tell him what is left behind. He wanted to charge me over $500 for three items which were a camper washing machine, a.k.a. a porter washing machine. The washing machine a.k.a. the portable one was gonna cost me $500 And he stated if I leave the heater and a few other things there will be an additional fee. I said that’s no problem unfortunately right now that stuff does not fit in my car he was rolling his eyes very rude. Very racist and said a fee negative things, I informed him “I’ll be back tomorrow since I was planning on closing it anyways I unlocked it. I got a call at like 8:20 in the morning. Stating that my storage unit was left with out a locked. I informed him storage unit it was left open/unlocked because all that is junk. I don’t really need it, but I’ll be back today to get everything out. He said OK I’ll make note on the account. no problem when I went to the storage unit around 5 o’clock there was a lock and a note stating make sure you lock up!!! do not leave your storage unit unlocked!!! Please come in and speak to a representative!!! I understand for legal purposes they don’t wanna be sued or anything like that so I understand the lock, but he should’ve called me and told me that he’s just gonna lock it or in that conversation. Hey you’re not supposed to have your storage unit unlocked even though you are getting rid of it. majority of the stuff is garbage I don’t know what is garbage or not so I’m going to put a lock on it for the safety of you and your stuff that would not be a problem so we went over there we saw that lock we went back in and the guy was like. Make sure you take everything out. I’m gonna be watching you and your girlfriend through the camera and then he said a lot of other things underneath his breath to his coworker, a lot of racist things. I felt really violated. He should’ve been better with communicating on why he’s putting a lock on it. He should’ve never left that note. He should’ve never said those racist things and he should’ve never said he’s watching us through the cameras while we take out our stuff to make sure it is empty That is harassment. I have no issue if you wanted to go back and check it before we close it. That makes sense He also had an issue because there was a guy that was moving and he had a ripped up mattress and stuff so I gave him what was left. That is harassment and discrimination and poor customer service. I normally get my U-Haul trucks through that location but at this point at Home Depot sounds a lot better. A matter of fact, the guy that was sitting right next to him gave us solutions on where we can bring that washing machine because the wire was broken, and the general manager looked at that guy and rolled his eyes. I also informed the general manager, he does not have to go to Dallas Pennsylvania to our stuff. Hazleton, there is a junkyard That will actually give you money back for a washing machine, even if it’s a portable washing machine there’s also another junkyard in Wilkes-Barre Pennsylvania. I wanna emphasize how uncomfortable how unprofessional, and how inconsiderate the general Russel was. There are so many other ways of handling things. And unfortunately, you are going to deal with issues. Everyone is especially a customer service but you try to make look good people feel more comfortable and wanting to come back not wanting to run away.
