I primarily dealt with Harold and sometimes another “seasoned” male, but I can't remember his name. The staff was outstanding and they clearly were juggling a lot. It’s a very busy location and it’s very big. When I was moving out a very nice young lady came and directed my movers to some key locations in the building. Honestly, in all those regards I give you company 5 stars. Just outstanding service from a location that, in my opinion, was understaffed. My experience from a policy and actual storage unit, from my point of view, disappointed me. Let me explain, my sister graciously cleaned out my 2 bedroom/1 bath condo in Palatine while I was hospitalized. I did not have an opportunity to visit the unit, but I trust my sister to work in my best interests. I have been paying for the unit since we rented it. I paid for the month of July 2025 in full. I contacted customer service to get a better understanding of the procedure for checking out, and asked them if I could be prorated for the month of July because it wasn’t the 15th yet and I was moving out on the 12th of July. The customer service agent told me the GM would be in the store and that I could work with him on the situation. I left the call feeling confident that would happen since the staff at this Palatine location on Dundee/Rand has been fantastic. When I got there and spoke to the GM he stated that isn’t Uhaul policy and that I’d have to pay for the full month regardless of what customer service said on the phone. That was extremely disappointing. Finally, when I was able to open the unit, we (staff, myself, my son & the movers I hired) saw a pole taking up a chunk of my square footage. So basically, between the fact that I was paying full price for a unit, not getting my full square footage, and then not getting prorated for the month of July, I feel cheated, I feel uneasy, and I feel sad about this experience. I wish it was a different story because I had a different “feeling” about the Uhaul name and that’s another disappointment. The stars I gave are for staff, the stars not given are for Uhaul policy. (the unit itself/prorated rent). Lisa Woodson

I only used 1/2 a month and I wanted 2 weeks repaid to my card. I was told there are. No money returned that it's in the paperwork Went home I didnt see it in the paperwork but I'm 73 and dont see that we'll. I just know th a t my friend rented a storage unit there a nd was returned $26 00 So somethings wrong on your end , yesterday I saw one person working and 7 people besides me look for help Im considering commenting on a review how I was taken.
