I had a great experience once again from Uhaul. Unfortunately, one negative employee in Reno. I asked him for help in purchasing tie downs, me being very ignorant, him supposed to be the expert. I purchased the wrong size, with no help or input from him except "I don't know" when I asked the differences between the many choices hanging on the wall. I asked to return them for a bigger size, which now I know there are different sizes. He said I could not return them as the package had been opened. My son expressed frustration and threw them in the garbage. Told this expert "great customer service " and walked out. The expert then tells me he doesn't have to put up with that, he was not helping me anymore and was going to put this in my file. Both me and my son are in professions that deal with customer service everyday and to be treated in this way was a bit shocking to me and obviously very frustrating for my son. The expert then got up, took the wrong tie downs out of the trash and exchanged the correct size straight across. I'm not sure if he was trying to make things right after all or if he was mad that my son called him out on his lack of customer service, i.e. asking me further details of what exactly I was needing to secure. He did initially ask me what I was tying down and I told him a queen bed, dresser, table and chairs, a couch and a TV, all of which are wider than 5 feet, the initial size of the tie downs he sold me. As the expert/professional, he should have known the tie down he sold me would not be big enough, instead of saying I don't know. Fortunately, when I checked out of the storage unit to close my account I got Phil, who I believe is the manager. I had no problems or issues with anyone else and everything went smoothly. I felt like I was interrupting this negative expert by asking my questions and was very disenchanted with his unprofessional behavior. Again. Everything was great as usual EXCEPT this unfortunate encounter.
