We tried to resolve our issues with Uhaul directly before providing a negative review in case a resolution could be made but we still haven’t heard back and our issues remain unresolved. 1) 26ft Truck we reserved a month in advance for Fort St. John wasn’t available, it was in a city 2 hours away 2) 20ft truck we were able to find in Fort St. John was reserved for the following day at 1pm but was never returned so we had to drive 1 hour away to get a different one after waiting all day for the truck we reserved to be returned (forced to pay for gas for 2 vehicles and now behind moving schedule) 3) All the dolleys in the Dawson Creek location were broken and customer service on the phone was no help and racist (he was more interested to know if the uhaul retailer supplying broken dolleys was black, Hispanic or East Indian, they should be ashamed) so we had to buy our own Dolley 4) 20ft truck wasn’t big enough of course since we reserved a 26ft truck that wasn’t available, so we had to rent a utility trailer and buy our own hitch (now 2 days behind schedule) 5) Utility trailer wasn’t maintained and blew a tire out. Road side assistance took 3 hours to tell us it can’t be fixed and shouldn’t have been driven in the first place (great when you’re travelling with a 7 month old baby) 6) Drove to ANOTHER city to rent a new trailer but this uhaul location was incompetent and made us wait 1 hour so his wife could drive there from home to do the paperwork. He didn’t even know what time it was and said he was closed when he was in fact open. This is the Lake Country location. 7) Customer service on the phone was less than helpful during this whole process. 8) Our planned 2 day move turned into a 5 day move with lost work wages, anxiety, stress and a crying baby for a 14 hour drive that was supposed to be split into 2 days but couldn't since we were already behind schedule. I don’t think there can be enough feedback to improve the next customer’s experience. I wouldn’t recommend Uhaul to anyone who wants a stress free move. The only uhaul location who didn’t give us an issue was the final location we dropped off at because nothing was involved. Summary: No customer service in call centre, reservations are pointless, incompetent retailers and death trap vehicles. I will be sure to spread the word.

The equipment wasn't ready when I arrived, it was dirty, a rear light wasn't working and had to be replaced, I had to instruct the person hitching the trailer to cross the safety chains, and to make matters worse, the lights stopped working completely in the latter stage of my 16 hour drive due to corroded wires. As roadside assistance would take several hours to arrive, I was given the option of driving the trailer WITHOUT lights working for another 25 minutes to the nearest U-Haul location to have them repaired. As a bonus, the drop-off location wanted to charge me another day due to delivering the trailer late...yes, at this point I blew my top called customer service and initiated a complaint. After 48 hours, the extra day charge was reversed and I was given a $50 credit. Personally, I feel a full refund was in order!

Taillights did not work/stopped working along the trip, causing me to be stopped by the police. I was invisible to drivers behind me so I could have been rear-ended and injured or killed

Uhaul was very dirty on the outside and the person trying to help us get the trailer hooked up did not know how to do it properly.

Much better than the previous location in Dawson Creek

I told the agent. I Was going to be an hour late due to a poor driving issue with the rental vehicle. I was assured there would be additional charges. I asked to drop off the vehicle in another town. I was told it would be cheaper if I drove it back with resulted in a 90 mile additional at 1.43 per mile. Why would I recommend a facility that doesn’t care about its customers. I’m very disappointed and I’m considering sharing my experience with the social media. Maybe we can get a group together that says “don’t trust uhaul they treat their customers like their machinery. I don’t expect a response but here’s my number. I was told my charges would be no more then 183 but the actual amount charged to my visa was 325

The attendant was courteous, helpful and knowledgeable. There was no windshield fluid in the truck. Everything else was good.

This site is a car/truck wash that also acts as an agent for U-haul. The truck I was assigned was unwashed and I had to sweep snow off the back bumper so the tail/brake lights were visible, and break off ice so it was safe to load without slipping and allow door latching mechanism to close properly. Cab also not cleaned with items littering the floor, dry spilled coffee on the dash/cupholder area. Despite appearance, the equipment worked well. Received excellent reception at the drop-off location.

Train the location employees better. It seems that uhaul just through them in the fire to have a location. Also regarding the truck - better tires for winter locations as best as possible. Stop saying 3/8 of a tank as the full mark for topping it up as who the hell knows where the 3/8 mark. Seems just another way to make a couple extra bucks on the fuel surcharge. Maybe have it at a full tank. Seems easier to top it that way.

The location did not know how to use the computer system so a simple pick up was a drawn out long wait while they tried to figure out how to work the system, multiple phone calls to u-haul customer service to get help. Next they phoned me the next day asking why I didn't drop the trailer off the night I picked it up, I had the trailer booked for a few days. Why would I only rent the trailer for a few hours?? This location needs training!!!!

Cindy H. on

The clerk was not trained how to rent out uhaul equipment and upon return there was quite a wait. I had a VIP certificate due to horrible service prior to this rental and discovered that my credit card was charged anyway the full charge. Now I am waiting to deal with this. Why can't it just be effortless?
