I reserved a UHaul at a facility on Kyle Ave. in Gadsden, AL, but the day before my reservation, the pick up site was moved to a location about 10 minutes further away. Not a big problem up front, but it turned into one. I arrived at 7:30am at my reservation time. The lady working at the counter was not trained to handle UHaul reservations. She called the manager, who arrived about 15 minutes later. The UHaul was not very clean in the cab. There was an appliance dolly available, but no blankets. The manager was polite and tried to be helpful once he found out he did not have the blankets. I spoke with someone at UHaul who informed me that blankets are not guaranteed. The Kyle Ave. location had blankets, so why switch me to a location that could not meet my reservation needs? I think that's a poor job overall by UHaul. UHaul had no problem asking me two different times leading up to my reservation if I could accomodate YOUR needs (drive a larger UHaul, pull a trailer), but no consideration for ensuring I have what I need. That's not good customer service at all. So, I have the UHaul rep to call around, and sure enough, he found blankets at the Kyle Avenue location. I had to drive over there to pick up the blankets. Now, the reason I raised this to 2 stars is because the guy at Kyle Ave. didn't charge me for the handful of blankets I needed. I asked him why my reservation was changed, and he said it was because I was a one way destination and they don't do that at that location. Look, you guys should not make it available for me to rent a one-way destination from a place that doesn't offer that service. I planned my weekend around getting this UHaul on time. I even planned which hotel I stayed at to be closer to the Kyle Avenue location. Fix your softward/procurement system so that people don't get switched to a different location. I was finally on my way with the UHaul to my destination an hour later than intended. I had 6 laborers and a seoond moving company waiting on me, it cost me 30 minutes of time (approximately $200) I paid while they sat around waiting for me.
