Thelma’s did a great job helping me. Uhaul system is the problem. They contacted me about having to pick up in Hampton sc instead of Beaufort which was 1 hr 20 minutes drive. Reservation was at 11:00 am. I got there and they had no trucks. He contacted someone about the truck and it was not due until 2:00 pm. Uhaul customer service should have relayed that message to me but instead I wasted almost 6 hours of time driving back and forth. Uhaul needs better communication with customer.

The hours were supposed to be 10am-4pm with my pickup time as 10:30am. When I got there the whole place was padlocked with no signs of life anywhere. Uhaul customer service only had the land line for the place so no one could get in touch with the owner for about an hour. He didn't have the key in either of the lockboxes so it's not like I just had to put in a code and go. Finally, he had no hand trucks available which I only found out after paying for the rental so that's money I'm out. After speaking to neighbors this is apparently a pattern of behavior for this man. Clearly, Uhaul should not be in business with him as he is a poor representative for their company. On the plus side, the customer service line was incredibly helpful in the limited capacity they had ro impact the issue.
Devan WI was scheduled to pick up the truck at 12:00. No one showed up to give me the key until 1:20. There was no apology or excuse given. Obviously this is normal behavior for this business.
Charles TI arrived for at 9:50 a.m. for a 10:00 reservation. I ended up calling U haul because no one was there but I signed up for 24/7 service. The U haul rep (Wendy) called the guy from Thelma’s place and he said that he was in the place and didn’t see me. Wendy ended up calling him back and said that he was 7 minutes away. The guy finally arrived at 11:05 a.m. Stay away from this place. Customer service is horrible and you’re certainly going to be late!
