Mary ARental truck had less than 1/4 of gas in the tank. In order to ensure we would make it to our destination (and back), we had to add more fuel to the tank. We understand the “rule” is to return with the same amount of fuel from when you picked up the truck. Perhaps there should be consideration to have all vehicles “topped off” so that everyone begins & ends their rental journey on the same “gas gauge”.
