Realistically, I’m not one to make complaints or go over and beyond to right reviews but the experience I had here was truthfully disappointing. The older gentleman Gerald is very kind and helpful, however, he is not in anyway shape or form fit for the job. When I had gotten there, it takes him forever to use the computer as if he doesn’t do this everyday, he asked me for 4 names and phone numbers EXCLUDING myself and my alternate driver, which I almost feel is data collection?... Then we had gotten outside, to the truck, the truck was fantastic, very pleased with the truck itself. I had also ordered a tow dolly and was told 4-5 separate times that i should leave my car there because “someone is here 24/7” but also told that i need to give an hour in advance before i arrive with a fully loaded truck because he owns different lots and wants to make sure he is there. I understand being busy but also I don’t understand telling someone that there will be someone present 24/7 when there isn’t. Fast forward, I went to get the tow dolly after loading the truck, and I was seen walking in the door at the 1:15-1:30 window and he was in a call. Then after the call ended, put his head down into his computer/phone and apparently didn’t see that i had pulled in, so I kindly said “I’m here to get my tow dolly, i’m kind of in a rush to get out because I need to be somewhere before 5pm. He said okay and to have a seat, then proceeded for the next 10-15 minutes, to ask me after silence in between “so you’re here to get a tow dolly?” 4 separate times. He starts signing the contract, gives me my copy and we headed outside. We get the dolly connected to the truck, and he asks me to check the turn signals on it, and then proceeds to take 2 phone calls while i’m explaining I don’t know how to do it. I had to inspect and find out myself how to do it while he was on the phone with a customer, while being (should be) the important customer right in front of him. I get the indicators to work, and then he has me pull forward with the trailer to get it straightened. He has me back up and pull forward onto the trailer 3-4 times, and then tells me “well i don’t know if your car will fit on it.” I own a Honda accord. Pretty standard car. So I had said “Just take it off.” and parked my car again. He drove my truck around the block which also seemed to have taken forever. He put the truck in the back to take the trailer off, and I told him i apologize but i had to be somewhere before 5 (it’s 2:30pm at this point) and it’s about 2 and a half away, he interrupts me and says “oh that’s not that far.” I believe this man does not need to be left alone on properties to speak with people that are purchasing things in advance (Ordered the truck 2 days in Advance, and moving their life away, if it’s going to take an HOUR to put a tow dolly on. Had to give advance notice for him to come watch me hook up my car, with “24/7 attendance from staff,” and also got snarky when I had explained since 10:30am that morning that I needed to get everything going as soon as possible. Overall really disappointed. First U-haul experience and makes me want it to be the last.
THOMAS SMr. Gerald was very helpful and definitely willing to serve his customers.
