Actually have the equipment that was reserved on a credit card available! If not or if something happens, call or text the customer as you stated you would the night before pickup. I was not contacted the day before (or ever) nor was the truck I reserved with my credit card available. I initiated a call to uhaul the night before just to verify since they did not contact me. I was then informed the truck was not available. Of course I panicked. Eventually I was however offered another larger truck at a location 200 miles away or a massive truck 40 miles away. I had to choose the truck that was too large. However I was told I would need to pay almost double even though it was UHAUL's mistake. I was given a local phone number to call a manager the next day during business house. I made this call the next morning and the extremely unpleasant manager adjusted the price to my reservation amount and felt the need to add "you are lucky you are even getting a truck". Also, fast forward when I was checking out it was realized this manager had not adjusted the price. It took another associate to complete that task. Also the local employee on site could not handle any of this. He called an associate at another location on his cell phone and had me complete the entire transaction over the phone. I have to acknowledge that employee was very friendly and very helpful. She is the one that noticed the manager had not adjusted the price. This was a very stressful experience. We had taken off work and driven 400 miles to clean out my deceased fathers house only to get there and have no truck. We had a couple of days to handle everything and were completely depending on the uhaul truck. Luckily it worked out but it was so stressful. To add insult to injury we had to pay for the 5 miles we went over mileage even though the location we were forced to use was not the original location I had chosen, was 40 miles away and was very inconvenient. What kind of operation is UHAUL running? Perhaps have your employees inform customers a reservation isn't really a reservation. Watch Seinfeld season 3 episode 11 "The Car Reservation"
