Gordon CFirst, we received no information that explained the check-in process to retrieve our rental, we showed at 9:00am as was the contract, no one at the location. Came back at 10:00, no one there. We called the location Friday and Saturday. At approximately 10:18am we called the WNC Regional office who explained we didn't show at 9:00am and they would have to rewrite our agreement. We also we told them, and only then, we would be retrieving our keys from a location conic on premises. The lack of communication from U-Haul, and this location was poor. This lack of communication out is over 2 hours behind. Never an apology, never an offer for any type of why we were not communicated with over a different check in process. Lastly, the floor of the rental was dirty, requiring us to sweep and wet mop before putting our items in the truck. The drop off location was excellent, they thanked us for wet mopping after we were finished, horrible rain throughout our move. A frustrating day and rental that could have been prevented with the proper communication in the front end.
Kenneth EFast and efficient
Shana RThe hydraulic trailer brake was inoperative during my trip to Mcminnville, TN this day. I didn't notice the issue until I had the vehicle loaded up and was coming to my first stop. The trailer would shift forward about 6 inches it seemed during braking and then when getting back on the throttle BOOM another hard shift back. This meant the brakes on my Suburban were the only thing stopping the entire 12k pound rig. Which my brakes are good but I was encountering hills since I was coming across the Blue Ridge Mountains. Coming down I40 and a few backroads I could hear my brakes going womp womp womp because they were getting so hot on downhill stops. Thankfully I made it safely back to Shelby, NC 400 miles one way. When I returned the trailer I went to check the fluid and couldn't get the cap off. You could clearly see fluid seeping from the bottom of the hydraulic brake piston assembly. My guess is the piston was bad or the fluid had leaked out. I would love the see at least a reimbursement of the trailer rental. Getting reimbursement for my rotors and pads would be great also but I don't expect all of that. Thanks either way
