I reserved the truck a week in advance but when I picked up the truck there was no reservation to be found. David was helpful and he got me on the road .
John TThey say first impressions last forever, and judging by the pickup location, I’m pretty sure my lasting impression is that I may need a tetanus shot. The adventure actually started the night before. My mom had made the reservation over a week in advance at a location near her home because she was trying to make things easier while we helped her move to her summer home. Then U-Haul called and informed us that the trailer we reserved wasn't available, so we'd need to drive 40 minutes out of the way to another location. When I arrived, I was informed that because my mom made the reservation, she needed to be physically present. So, if I understood correctly, my options were to drive 40 minutes to get her, drive 40 minutes back to the pickup location, then drive another 40 minutes back to the house to load the trailer, before finally heading in the direction we needed to go in the first place. An impressive logistical achievement considering the original reservation was supposed to save time. I asked if there was some way to add me to the contract. Without changing expression—and this became a recurring theme—I was told, "No." At this point, I was still trying to process the office itself. Calling it cluttered would be generous. It looked less like a rental office and more like a storage unit that had lost a fight with a tornado. Honestly, it was impressive, just not in the way anyone would hope. Eventually I asked if we could simply cancel her reservation and create a new one in my name. Again, with the same unwavering blank stare, I was told, "Yes." By then I had already been there for more than 20 minutes. The process of creating the new rental then seemed to take another eternity—probably around 30 minutes. Meanwhile, another customer spent that entire time waiting their turn, periodically wandering in and out of the office, likely wondering if they had accidentally entered a social experiment. Eventually, the paperwork was completed, the trailer was hooked up, and I was finally able to leave. In the end, I got the trailer I needed. Unfortunately, getting it felt like the most difficult part of the move.
AARON LLarry, the owner, is the most helpful and friendly uhaul representative I’ve ever dealt with, and I’ve dealt with a lot. He takes pride in his work and delivers excellent customer service. 10/10
CASEY SPerson was very rude at pick up. I've ordered a trailer for Palm Desert and was told a couple days out that uhaul only had a trailer in yukipa 45 min away from us. I've added my son John to the transaction, as I don't drive the freeway and could not meet him. Also the charges were more. We had to go 45 min out of our way, charged more and my son was treated rudely. The drop off at Lake forest was friendly and also the phone communications with uhaul are friendly.
