When I returned the truck I added 3.6 gallons of fuel at the station across the street from Robinsons. The pump shut off automatically and I did not bother to get a receipt. At check-in I was told that the truck was not filled so I returned t that gas station and added another 5.691 gallons. I took a receipt that time. The total amount, 9.291, did not make sense for usage of 56 miles. Even 5.6 gallons for which I have the receipt would be 10 miles per gallon. I think the truck did not have a full tank when I picked it up. I think it showed full on the interior gauge. In any event, either the gauge was wrong or I paid for more gas than I used at 2.939 per gallon. Uhaul should improve its service or you will lose your reputation.

Need to ensure that the equipment is serviceable. The ratchet that attaches to the tire strap fell off during my travel home. I did not notice it until about 8 that evening when I started to load up my car. I called roadside assistance for a repair. To no help. They said that no store was open at that time and I would need to wait till 8 the next morning and take it back to the location I picked it up. I could not wait until 8 because I needed to be on the road no later than 5 to make my destination on time. I asked if someone at a local store could come in and give me ratchet. They told me that all stores was closed. So I was screwed. I went to the local hardware store and bought a tie down strap just so I could make my trip on time. The next time that I need rent equipment I will no be looking at uhaul as my first choice. Not sure why you have road side assistance if they cannot come out and fix your equipment.

The person who helped us was pleasant but did not seem to be familiar with the process of renting the truck. We had made an online reservation but he had trouble finding our account on the computer and then he said he could not find our drop off sight. He made us feel anxious that the place we were told to take the truck did not exist. We had to make several phone calls from the truck to try to clear this up. The absolute most frustrating thing was not this person though, but the UHAUL corporate customer service. We called 3 separate days and only on one day did they answer the phone. AFter waiting 20 minutes each time we hung up. There is nothing in the answering system that tells you an estimated wait time, nor is there is message that says, please be patient we will get to you soon, just a message repeating over and over again about leaving feedback. It makes you want to leave scathing feedback!

Back door on the truck was open when we got to our destination. I never thought to check to make sure it was locked. In the future I will make sure it is closed and locked.

My uhaul rental experience wasn’t pleasant because the phone app return process did not work smoothly but that was not related to the rental location.

The trailer leaked during a rain storm. We found two puncture holes in the roof. My stamp collection was hanging in the truck to keep it dry. It is ruined! Why doesn’t UHaul answer the phone? One tie down was broken. Drop off spot said to call national number!! Make sure trailers are sound.

The return time on my contract was wrong and i got over charged. I returned it at 7:45 PM (it was supposed to be back at 8 PM) but the receipt says I returned it at 7:45 AM the next morning...when I was asleep. I need to be reimbursed for the overcharge. This is not this specific locations fault though, they were very helpful. But uhaul needs to get their stuff straight.

This all started with a reservation I made online for a 10’ truck on fuller road. The employee called me at the gas station it was at and said we don’t have 10’ trucks here- you’ll have to call the 800 number. I went online and made a reservation for western ave ace hardware. In guilderland NY- I waited for over an hour for my reservation even though I made the reservation online. Then I was told it was $70 more than what my confirmation email said. So the reservation needed to be changed- because it was incorrect. On Monday (the day I was supposed to drop it off) I noticed the employee at ace hardware chose the wrong dropoff location when he re entered the reservation- it was supposed to be Hoosick, Ny as I was moving to Vermont and instead chose cohoes, NY which is an hour away. I called uhaul to change the drop off location on Monday and they told me that the cohoes NY location was closed and I would have to wait until the following day to call them and change it. I only needed the uhaul for 1 day. I called ace hardware to inform them on Tuesday, They said they couldn’t do anything, and I needed to call the 800 number. I called uhaul and the drop off location was changed and she assured me I wouldn’t be charged extra because it was the employee at ACE hardwares mistake. When my boyfriend dropped off the uhaul, they charged my card an extra $40 for the extra day. Absolutely none of the process of this went smoothly and all I needed was a uhaul for one day.

The truck ran and handled well, but driver comfort was compromised by the awkwardness of getting in and out of the vehicle and lack of ability to regulate the seat angle. Also, several years ago I rented a U-haul vehicle to pull a boat and trailer that weighted in excess of 4500 lbs. That vehicle, which was larger, and pulling 4500 lbs got better gas mileage that the one I just rented which, at best, carried 1000 lbs. Every part of the rental experience was very good, except vehicle access and pathetic mileage. Based on the latter I would not recommend U-Haul to a friend.
