My reservation time was 9:30. I arrived at 9:10. I did not have a mask on and was told it was required. Although I have chronic bronchitis and am exempt from wearing a mask, I didn't want to divulge my medical history in front of other customers, so I told the man I didn't have a mask. He said that I would need one before he could help me. I asked, "If they are required, do you provide them?" He said, "no." I asked, "how am I supposed to pick up my truck?" He said, "You need to go find a mask." I had to drive home and get a mask. Had I not already made arrangements with others to have this uhaul, I wouldn't have returned. I will need to rent a truck several more times over the next 6 months, but I assure you it will be with someone else. What I found amusing, is that when I had the mask on, I was holding it away from my mouth because of my breathing issues yet he didn't have an issue with that, and when it came to signing my paperwork, he didn't hesitate to offer me his pen. I suggest he do some research on this virus. On another note = the floors were filthy. There were tiny pine cones on the floor and what looks like straw/hay, and it smelled horrible! I know Governor Cooper put the mask mandate in place, but this was the first time I was refused service. Maybe it would be a good idea to have a box of masks there for people like myself who don't wear them.

My overall experience was satisfactory, but I did have an issue with the charge when the vehicle was dropped back off. You asked the customer for an estimated mileage when your employee had the capability to get an estimate from point a to point b. I was quoted one price on paper and charged a much higher price upon dropping the vehicle off a day early. This is very misleading especially if the person is moving on a budget. Also, you have a sticker inside the cargo area of the truck that states, "save either $25 or 25% if vehicle is returned in same condition with hast. I did not see that reflected on my receipt when I returned the vehicle. I would not recommend uhaul to a friend without first getting a concrete price on the use of the vehicle. There is a check engine light on in the vehicle that was casually looked at. I was told that it would be fine to drive. That could have played a significant part in the overage of mileage that was calculated at the time of drop-off .

I understand that this is a new branch, but Barry was having a ton of issues with the computer and then he walked out with us and pointed to the truck and trailer that I would use to haul my things to Michigan. He saw that I had a pickup truck and told us that it would be fine to haul my extended cab F-150 pickup on the car hauler, but when we tried the back wheels of my truck wouldn't fit on the trailer, they were left on the ramp. Barry was very nice and polite, but I ended up having to leave my truck in North Carolina from Michigan since I couldn't haul it home. I'm not going to have to fly down to North Carolina and drive my truck back to Michigan.
