This time everything went smoothly. The dealer at Bayfield was friendly and made the process smooth. I have learned that there is a flaw in the overall programming on the U-Haul app that lets you make a guaranteed reservation on a Sunday during a time that no one is in the office to put keys in the vehicle for your pickup. The app makes the customer believe everything is set but when you go to pick up the vehicle on a Monday morning at 7am, it is not ready. This is not the fault of the dealer but if U-Haul’s reservation platform. I recommend going during open hours.

Excellent! Guy came out hooked up the trailer and checked to make sure everything was good.
Matthew GI reserved the truck online ahead of time and I reserved there to be a dolly and blankets. Online it said the reservation was guaranteed and I could pick it up at 7am. When I arrived, I used the app to check out the vehicle and it said that the keys were in the vehicle on the drivers side or passenger side under the mat. The doors were both locked and I couldn’t get in. I called the number on the U-Haul app and spoke to a representative. She apologized and said that someone must have forgotten to put the keys. She told me to go to the back and look in the back. The cargo door was unlocked but nothing was inside. No keys and also to my disappointment no dolly or blankets. The representative at that point wanted to take the charge for the dolly and blankets off of my order so I wouldn’t be charged. She then had me walk to the back of the Bayfield mall to look for a lock box. I saw one that was orange and had the words U-Haul printed on it but she said not that one and told me to keep looking. I found 3 unmarked black lock boxes. She gave me codes for each one to try but upon opening each one, more disappointment as each was empty. At this point she told me that I could wait until 8am when the U-Haul store opened inside the mall and a person could assist me. I agreed and waited. At around 8:05, no one had showed up but a text came in from someone representing U-Haul Bayfield. They sent me to another lock box outside the mall, this time it was an orange one that said U-Haul that the first representative told me not to look at. The person texted me a new code and it opened. I found lots of keys and was able to get the one that matched the number on the reservation. I still had no dolly or blankets. After several texts with the mystery representative, they told me to check other cargo doors of other vehicles to find the dolly and blankets. I was able to find some and then carry on with my move successfully. I did lose an hour and a half and it was incredibly frustrating.
