Both of the two ratchet clamps on the auto transport were in poor shape and functioned poorly. Neither clamp, but particularly the driver’s side clamp, would stay tightened. During the 1500 mile trip I had to check the clamps with every fuel stop and sometimes in between. All told, I had to re-tighten the clamps to take up slack about 6-8 times. In one instance the wheel tether had come completely off. Hard to drive in confidence when the equipment was mal-functioning that badly.
