Three negative aspects of the rental experience: 1) Doing the solo check-in/vehicle pickup is a great feature, but you should let the customer know that it is going to take 10 minutes or so. I was expecting to unlock the vehicle and drive, but ended up having to jump through hoops about managing the rental etc. I'm fine with the workflow, but there needs to be BETTER communication to manage expectations. 2) Returning the vehicle with the same level of gas was NOT clearly communicated in the process. Again, this can be better communicated via the app and email. Not knowing this and only learning at the end of the check-out process added 30 minutes to the task/rental because I wasn't going to pay Uhaul's $50+ fuel fees, etc. 3) I'm fine with leaving the vehicle on the street if that's the what has to happen, but the dealership/provider's info on the app says to return the vehicle inside it's parking lot. The lot was closed and locked that day. Again, if this is the SOP, just say so. I shouldn't have to get onto the phone with a customer service rep to trouble-shoot how to return the truck when the suggested method is not an option. You're wasting my time and yours by having to do the phone call.

This facility was located inside of a mechanic facility so I suppose that had something to do with it. The place was no clean or orderly. The van had bird dropping all over the window and the front interior was not clean, had debris on the passenger and driver seat. But it got the job done so there's that.

Very disorganized. Did not find my reservation at first. They have a very small selection of trucks parked around an old transmission shop. Hadn’t to hunt through all the trucks to find a dolly for my order.

The gentleman who helped me was very sweet, but the mirrors weren’t set right and a tire was low on air when I left. I was able to reset the mirrors after pulling over, but as someone who doesn’t drive trucks I didn’t know what to check for. I also would have appreciated a run through of, “If something goes wrong, here’s what you call/do/etc.”

You need to have a prepaid gas plan. I drove 7 miles and got charged for 2 gallons of fuel, $4.5 each (!) It doesn’t make sense to fuel when the length of your ride is so short and it’s unfair to charge a ridiculous amount of gallons for that.

The U Haul itself was pretty old so its pick-up was slow - took a while for the gas to kick in or the brake to stop it completely. As for the location, I was frustrated that I was given a U Haul with the gas just BARELY above the 1/4 mark. I had no choice but to refill it before returning it vs. incurring the $30 fee. Just an awful way to start the service.

They didn’t explain policies for gas (so I was charged for gas) or returning after hours. I spent an hour calling the national office/waiting on hold/being transferred to a closed office/calling again. The van itself was fine, but the experience overall was one of frustration.

Back of the truck had some sand/grit in it but not a big problem. Staff was friendly and very helpful pulling out and parking the truck for us. Thanks for a pleasant experience - easiest move in the city yet.
