This place is terrible. I reserved a truck for contactless pickup at 8:30. When I arrived there was no way to get into the lockbox to get my keys. I had to wait until they opened at 10. I had 8 people at my house at 9:30 waiting to help. They guy was so slow. I didn't get a truck until 10:30. Do not rent from this location. It would be faster to drive to Nanaimo for pickup.

Due to Covid Protocols picking up and dropping off rental took a considerable amount of time, but that is expected. Our rental was awesome and only makes me want to purchase an F-150 even more! Lol I will definitely use your UHaul location if I need the use of a truck in the future. Thank you, Danielle

Richard was late opening the office. Vehicle was buried behind 2 other trucks, when I was booked for 10:00 pickup. (apparent opening time. not 10:20 with five rentals waiting in line at the door) Returned truck around 1:00, office door locked, knocked on the door a few times, but no answer. Terrible agency, and a black mark on U-Haul overall. Perhaps he needs some responsible staff instead of his one man show?


Choose a different location. The current location cannot handle even a small number of customers.

Robert is nice enough but no computer skills, no understanding of time and the place is a mess. Angry and frustrated customers and he is oblivious. He needs help badly. Glad I have other choices, looks like I'll be using National or Budget for my next truck rental.

Actually rented through Kean Auto location. Were switched to McPhee location. Appreciated someone being there but he was a little disorganized......Was a little miffed that we still owed some $$$. Not sure why I couldn't have paid, in full, at the time of our on line booking. Truck was in good shape, overall, and just the right size for our needs.


Did COVID start here?...looks like a bomb went off in the office! It took nearly two hours to pick up a truck that I already had all the info on including the truck number...truck was somewhat clean but I'd suspect that it wasn't disinfected based on the overall cleanliness of the facility. The attendant was very friendly and cordial but wasn't wearing a mask when he served me. From speaking with others in the line up, the slow service was the norm and after many complaints uhaul has done nothing. The other locations do not typically carry the larger vehicles so customers are forced to use this location. A rep from uhaul called me during my long wait to ask if I wanted to cancel my reservation and I said I was still waiting in line, she said you must be at the McPhee location and I laughed out loud...too funny. Just my two cents...

Get someone who is computer literate, well organized and cares about the customer. I was scheduled to pick up the truck at 10am. I got it at 11AM. I saw 2 men walk away due to extreme poor service. One lady got her van after waiting 2 hrs. The office looks like a garbage dump.

Standard 2 hour wait in the rain. Not kidding. Rented the same truck to two of us and we had an altercation. OMG worst rental experience in my life.

The pick up process took over 2 hours! Standing outside in the cold. Valuable time on a moving day. According to reviews this is typical. Why is this not being addressed? Also there was a uhaul centre 2 blocks from where we moved to that had room for our rental to be returned. Yet we had to take it all the way back to the same center only to wait again to drop off. This costing me 50 extra kilometers. Why request feedback if nothing done to change the poor service. Never again!


Robert is so nice and hes doing his best but he needs help. The store is a disaster, papers are everywhere and so is stuff. Someone could trip and get hurt walking over to look at products. And behind the counter paper and garbage is just tossed everywhere. His computer skills need work as well. A couple more employees and maybe some help to clean the place up and things would get a lot better for him and everyone else.

This was the worst service a person could get. Knowing it was near mid month I reserved a unit. I did the on line check in as suggested. When I arrived there were several customers waiting outside in the cold rain and were not let in because of the covid 19 issue. I stood in line for two and a half hours waiting to be served.. There was only one employee to serve and he was oblivious to the situation. It was close to 3 hours before I got served which threw out my schedule totally. One of the customers claimed this was the normal experience at this location from this particular employee. What can you do to improve .... staff according to the demand and set up a measuring system that tracks how long it takes per customer. Surely a customer should not be waiting hours!! and in the cold and rain!! It is clear that this location does not understand the term 'customer service' and the management appears to be uncaring or incompetent. Why do you survive? .... you are the only game in town.


Would have beneficial had there been 2 persons , not just one. Overall it was good.

I really think staff should be retrained, the man was extremely nice but only knew how to sign us in, I wanted to add a co-driver and I had to instruct him on what to do. I also had an 11:30 reservation and I didn't get driving till around 12:30 I'm not complaining about that, I just think staff should be retrained.

I was warned not to go here because the operator is barely competent. it took 30 minutes to process my return even though I was the only customer and there were no complications with my rental


The gentlemen who was working (by himself) had long line ups all day but was quite professional and courteous. Even when some customers were not. Just wanted to mention how impressed I was with him.

Waited an hour, had a reservation at 11 am. Dropped the vehicle off with a bit less fuel in it and thought it would be forgiven for my hour and a bit of wasted time, but no, charged 10.00 for it. Otherwise, the vehicle was clean at least. Grant

The vehicle has a very bad vibration in the front end. The cargo door was very difficult to open not possible to close at all. I had to use WD-40 and let it sit for 10 minutes before the door was operational

I would qualify my recommendation. I booked a Van online for 5:30pm. The closing time is listed at 6pm. I arrived 15 minutes early and the doors were locked which was a shock. Were my plans no longer possible? Going back to my car, I happened upon a gentleman moving other U-haul vehicles. He informed me that "No, I am definitely not the guy you are looking for" and "wait around, sometimes he just in the back". So, I - perhaps pointlessly I thought - waited for the guy to show up. At that point, I had nothing to lose. Low and behold, he showed and I was able to get back on my plan albeit, 45minutes passed my scheduled pick-up time.
