For the record, my concern rests less with the status of the equipment but more so with the fact that the unit was provided to me with less than 1/4 of a tank of gas. I did not truly appreciate the impact of this until I received the billing in which I was charged for gas that I did not use and was also charged a surcharge for having less than a 1/4 tank, despite the fact that this was exactly the condition it was provided to me. While I had read an internet review for Tower Automotive regarding this exact same issue, I still chose to use them since they are the closest to my home. Only later did I truly understand why the person who had submitted the internet review felt so much pain. If Tower Automotive asserts that the unit had 1/4 tank when I received it they are either: Mistaken; Incompetent; or Lying. The fuel was low enough that the low fuel light was on and clearly indicated 39 miles to empty (I have a date stamped picture to prove this). Immediately after picking up the unit, I put gas into it so that I could move the items I needed to. While I concede that I returned the unit with less than 1/4 tank, the fuel indicator showed 48 miles to empty (I have a date stamped picture to prove this). Therefore I returned the unit with more gas than I received it with. The above then led me to contact Customer Service at U-haul. While the initial agent was extremely helpful, some bureaucrat stuck to the letter of the contract (you will return with 1/4 tank) rather than the spirit of the contract (if Uhaul expects you to provide a 1/4 tank, they they have an obligation to provide you with a unit that meets this same standard). Tower Automotive, as the agent for Uhaul, failed to fulfill their obligations in this regard. I then asked that my issue be escalated to someone with more decision making power and was told that the issues was referred to the Market Company President for Canada and that they would contact me within three days. This never happened. This is the first time that I have ever rented a Uhaul in my life but I have rented many cars. For car rentals, the policy is simple - they provide it to you with a full tank of gas and they expect you to return it with a full tank of gas. This takes some of the judgement away in terms of whether it is close enough to 1/4 tank - one person might say yes and one might say no. In that regard, I find the overall Uhaul policy to be foolish. My goal is to NEVER rent a Uhaul for the rest of my life and, should anybody ask me, I would encourage them to find an alternate source.

David GThe Uhaul was dirty The tank was almost empty Ingad to contact a service person as the vehical had a burnt sugar smell like something was leaking The cbeck valve light came on after driving out to the next pick up spot There was no windshield wiper fluid in the vehical Snd the driver visor was broken on the inside attachment The servixe man did come promtly to look at the vehical and did not find any leaks. The check valve indicator was not on when he came to look at the vehcle and check on the issues When I picked up the extra load the atrendant there saw the checked valve light on and checked it out with her device and found it to be a faulty issue and reset the vehical. This check valve light only came back on once I dropped the vehical off at the destination location. The other two locations the are actual Uhaul dealers were very good and proffeasional.
