I reserved a truck and a trailer on May 10, two weeks before I needed them for a move on May 24/May 25. The DAY BEFORE I was scheduled to pick up the truck in my town, UHaul called me and informed me that I needed to drive forty minutes away to a different pick up location in order to get my truck and trailer. What's the point of RESERVATION if the equipment isn't RESERVED for my scheduled time and place? Does UHaul think people just wanna wing their move? Does UHaul think people move every other day and so this is routine and they're flexible about it? No, moving is already stressful enough, I don't need somebody calling me the DAY BEFORE to tell me now I have to completely alter my time table. Whatever, I drive forty minutes away to Glorias Corner to pick up my stuff because, according to UHaul, there was "nothing they could do." There the gas station clerk made me wait for forty minutes while I stood off to the side as he rang up customers as they came and went. Every time the store cleared out, he would begin to gather his things and prepare to give me the truck and then more people would walk in. Mind you, on paper, the rental for this truck and trailer was a transaction of about $700 dollars. I am moving across multiple states, on a time table, already had to drive forty minutes to a different pickup site, and now I'm being treated as a secondary priority. Finally, he comes out from behind the counter and takes me out to the truck. I tell him I reserved a trailer too, and he just kind of looks at me. I stand there while he just scratches his head and looks at the trailer until he tells me it's broken and I can't take it. I tell him this is unacceptable, and he gets on the phone with a UHaul employee. The employee then tells me that I can drive another twenty minutes to get the trailer that I want. Those extra twenty minutes, were in the opposite direction of my home, so that would make it an hour drive back before I even got home to pack my truck and load my car. I tell him I can't do this because I'm on a timetable and it's already screwed up, so he promises to personally bring me a trailer at the home that I'm moving out of. I went home, I packed up my truck, and I just sat there twiddling my thumbs until he texted me to tell me he'll show up at 7PM. Keep in mind, I scheduled my pick up at 9:30AM. He showed up at around 7:25PM (later than he said) and connected the trailer to my truck. We began loading my car on and then he informs me that my car sits too low. I entered my year, make, and model into the reservation of the trailer. How was I JUST THEN learning that my car wouldn't fit onto the trailer? I asked him what we can do, and he suggested putting 2x4 wooden planks under my tires to lift the car up. I tell him we can do that, so let's grab them out of his truck, and then he tells me that he doesn't have any wooden planks in his truck and he can drive us to Lowe's. I got in his UHaul truck and he immediately, without asking, started hitting his vape with the windows closed. He drove us over to the Lowe's where he went around 25MPH-35MPH into the parking lot, blew through a stop sign, and almost t-boned a family in a Honda Odyssey. He took another deep hit off of his vape and then defensively remarked "why would they put a stop sign there? That's so dumb." We went inside, and he couldn't find the wood we needed. I hadn't even considered until that moment if he expected me to pay for the lumber or not. He asked an employee at Lowe's to use their lumber saw to cut some fresh wood and the employee told him their saw was down. At this point it was around 8PM. I told him to forget it and that I didn't even care about having the trailer any more. Because of this whole debacle, not only was I super late to meet my friends who wanted to have a goodbye get-together, but I had to leave my car in Georgia. I had to buy a plane ticket to fly down to Atlanta, get a ride to Athens, and then drive my car back up to North Carolina.
Taylor HExcellent trailer ,would use them again ty
Georgana CTo have the evening work staff knowledgeable to how to rent uhaul devices, only the owner, who is there during day can perform duty. The evening worker could not help, did not know anything, had to come back following morning. Other than that all was good.
