There was only a quarter tank when I received the vehicle, so I needed to fill up the tank before I started the move because I didn't want to run out of gas on the road. Then I only ended up using a quarter tank so I gave this location a free half tank which is about $40 out of my pocket. Have the truck full before it gets picked up. That is basic common sense customer service. I am not pleased.

The agent seemed frustrated with me asking questions related to the contract and our preferred drop off location. He rudely insisted that our truck had to be returned to the location on my driver’s license, which was NOT the location we were taking our cargo to, 100 miles away! Plus this male agent was demanding and tried to insist I buy their insurance, even though I was already covered under my own policy! Another unnecessary hassle was when I insisted on reading all of the fine print on the contract, BEFORE signing it ... which really seemed to aggravate this impatient man! He told me at least 6 times to just “SIGN IT and READ IT LATER”! HUH? No, I did not listen to him. On an unrelated issue, he had a slightly heated argument with a fellow employee in front of us, which was totally not necessary and very unprofessional! Our original pick up location did not have the size truck we needed on the date we needed it, but there are plenty of other locations in the 60110 zip code to choose from. I'd suggest checking out a pick up facility, before you select one to rent from, and meet the staff ahead of time, if possible. After we arrived at our destination 2 very windy and snowy days later, I realized this man in Elgin, Illinois on Dundee Ave, had only given me 4 of the 5 pages from the contract, which he insisted on stapling together, despite my request not to do so! ARGH! After looking around the outside of the truck, we noticed many areas of minor damages, which had their infinity symbol stickers all over the place. I still took many digital photos, just to cover myself. We forgot to open the back cargo door before we left, because it was so bitterly cold and windy on the day of our pick up, only to later find out that the inside was dirty from the prior renter ... oh well, nothing a broom and an air hose did not rectify prior to our own return. At least we returned it clean, and we were not charged an extra fee. Upon our return, I took more photos, just as a CYA measure, but I did mention this to the gal in Colorado, who informed us that the prior renter should have been charged $25, but we were not granted the same as a credit for cleaning up someone else’s mess. One other thing … for some reason, the gas tank was at 3/4 full, not 100% … why is that? Can’t one of the U-Haul facilities just flip for the extra cost of filling the tank to FULL? Do that for the convenience of the next customer renting it, because we had to stop in near blizzard conditions just to fill it up before we left on our lengthy road trip. Then just submit a claim to corporate for reimbursement, because it was an extra hassle to put just the right amount of fuel in the tank before returning it … not too low, not too high! Or they charge you another fee! That did not make sense!

I picked up the trailer at 10:30am on Friday, the shop person said I had 24 hours but was calling me by 8:30am on Saturday because he had someone else booked for 9am on Saturday. I've rented with Uhaul for years and always have 24 hours from time of pick up. The shop threatened to bill me for 2 days just because I arrived 1 hour late.
