How U-Haul Reviews WorkI rented a 15 foot moving truck. The truck was clean inside and out, started well, ran well, parking brake good, side mirrors adjusted and folded in and out good, tires good, air conditioning good, the sliding cargo door operated and latched fine and the loading ramp pulled out, hooked and slid back in fine. The driver door hinges badly needed lubrication, making a loud noise when opening the door. This noise opening the driver door is one of your first impressions with the truck; it made me think: if the door hinges lack of lubrication reflects the maintenance regularity of the truck, am I going to have problems on the road? But as already mentioned, the truck started and ran fine. There was a second key on the key ring with the ignition key. I thought this must be for a padlock for the cargo door and sure enough there was a padlock chained to the truck in a position where it could be used with the door latch to lock the door. However, the padlock was seized probably from road salt. The key readily went into the padlock to confirm that was what the key was for but the lock was unusable. I don’t remember that the rental listing promised a locking cargo door but in my opinion, either replace the damaged lock or remove it and the key so the customer doesn’t assume the padlock is usable. The instrument panel and rental contract offer guidance to know how much gas to put in the tank to restore the level to where it was on pickup. This is a good idea and would have been useful except that the guidance was in US gallons and Canadian gas pumps are in litres. My conversion calculation was wrong and I put in more gas than needed to restore to the original level whereas if the guidance was in litres, this would not have happened. As my star ratings will confirm, my rental experience overall was excellent, I have only these observations which would be improvements for the next customer.
