Everything. This was a truly awful experience. And I will never use U-Haul again. Starting with the fact that when we arrived at the dealer there was no clear sign as to where the check in was. Then the attendant said they didn’t have a dolly or blankets, both of which I had ordered beforehand, for a major move. And when I requested them he was surly and rude and asked me why I was moving, which was none of his business and was in general horrible hospitality. Then the QR code didn’t work, even though, again, I had confirmed my usage days before. Then the truck itself was dirty and poorly maintained. The rusted door lock took forever to undo each time we used it, and became progressively worse as the day went on. Then when we returned the vehicle to the exact same location, in the exact same spot we had picked it up in, the second attendant refused to believe I had picked it up there and disputed the fact. Then he told me I’d better sign out via some phone app or I’d be charged extra, even though, again I’d had a confirmed agreement and amount days earlier. With, btw, was for $59 and somehow the ultimate total ended up being $100. Who runs this operation? The service was horrid, the truck was falling apart, and the left hand had no idea what the right hand was doing. I will never recommend U-Haul to anyone. There are way too many other significantly better options out there.

While the location itself is fine - this is the second time that I have booked a vehicle for pickup at this location and not been able to get the vehicle that I actually booked. For my most recent move on August 1st, I had booked a 11foot truck for pick up at 11am and upon arrival to the Sonomax location, only small sprinter vans were available. No type of explanation was given for this and I was told that I could take the van or go find a vehicle somewhere else. Because of the circumstances I took the van - but this vehicle was not equipped to handle my move appropriately and I was forced to take an additional trip, spend additional money on gas, spend additional money on mileage and spend additional time. It would have been to nice to have at least known why I was unable to pick up the vehicle I booked and any additional help that U-haul might be able to offer me at this point in time would be greatly appreciated.
Christopher MThis location didn’t have any dollies or hand trucks available for rent. This might have been OK, except for that they confirmed my reservation without telling me this. I had to scramble to get everything I needed day-of — even though I’d booked a few days in advance.
