Unfair Extra Charges Due to U-Haul’s Poor Communication I’m extremely disappointed with how my recent U-Haul rental was handled. I reserved a 20-foot truck for a one-way move from Victoria to Houston. Without any notification, my reservation was changed to a 15-foot truck — which was not large enough to accommodate everything I needed to move. Because of this, I was forced to make two separate trips between cities. This added unnecessary mileage, time, stress, and cost to my move — all of which could have been avoided if U-Haul had simply informed me that my reserved truck was unavailable. The most frustrating part came the morning after I returned the truck, when I noticed an extra charge on my card. No one contacted me to explain the charge, and no one from customer service has followed up on the multiple issues I’ve tried to get resolved. In total, I ended up paying for significantly more mileage and an additional $200 in fuel because I had to make two trips in a large truck — something that would have been avoided entirely had the correct truck been provided. The lack of communication and failure to meet expectations caused unnecessary financial burden and left me feeling completely disregarded as a customer. U-Haul needs to do better. Honor reservations. Communicate clearly. And take accountability when mistakes cost your customers both time and money.
