My name is Delwin and I'm from New Orleans, Louisiana! However, my review is for a U-Haul store in Mobile, Alabama (store# 778067 to be exact). While at work in New Orleans, my sister called me saying she need my help in moving from Mobile, AL to Jackson, MS because she was having some serious domestic issues. She told me she made reservations with U-Haul but they closed at 7pm. I didn't get off work until 5pm and it's almost 2.5 hours from New Orleans to Mobile. I do believe in God so I have to give him thanks and praise for the rest of this story! After explaining the situation to my boss he let me off at 4pm. I met my sister at the U-Haul store at a little past 6:40pm. This is where we met U-Haul's best employees in our eyes, Ms. Michelle and Mr. Steven! Ms. Michelle was finishing up with a customer and Mr. Steven was closing the store. In such an abrupt situation you can guess finances were tight but Ms. Michelle assured us everything will work out! We had to change from a U-Haul truck to a trailer because it worked best with our budget. I had to buy the hitch to pull the trailer. By time we finished the contract and purchased the hitch it was well past 7pm but Mr. Steven and Ms. Michelle were still eagerly helping us! Mr. Steven and I had to flip the hitch because it set too low for my truck and the trailer but that nut holding the ball on was hell getting off! After getting the trailer hooked to my truck we realized I needed an adapter for the lights to work. Realizing I came straight from work drove to Mobile, about to drive to Jackson then turn around to get to back to New Orleans for work at 6am, I let out a sigh! Ms. Michelle, without, hesitation offered to supply me with the adapter, covering the cost! I was caught off guard! With all these social issues happening today I didn't expect that! I have to point out that Ms. Michelle and Mr. Steven are white and my sister and I are black. Although some may say they were doing their job, please stop right there! It was almost an hour after they were suppose to get off and not one time did we feel rushed, unwanted or received an millimeter of poor service! I honestly believe they both went above and beyond what their jobs requires! Hence, when it was time to say bye and give thanks I had to get a hug! Handshakes just wouldn't do! Maya Angelou once said people may forget what you did for them and what they said to them but they will never forget how you made them feel! Thanks again, Ms. Michelle and Mr. Steven of U-Haul Store# 778067 for making our experience with U-Haul great and memorable! We'll never forget how the two of you made us feel like valued customers! Only real problem was it rained and the wipers were awful and for around town use its kinda pricey 99 cents a mile cost more to come and bring back the truck than moving

The truck only had a half of tank of gas when we received it. Plus when we came to drop it off, no one came out to help us. We went inside and they just told us to leave the keys in the truck. We waited for someone to arrive because we didn't want to be charged if someone drove off with the truck unattended.

For one I can not believe I was charged over charged theyou said I went 150 miles in two trips to a church from my house and two trips to reception hall by my house and very bad experience will not be using Uhaul in future have a bless night

Nope gas was where it was which was halftime take someone lied and said it was on 1/4 which cost me extra money when u already have the highest mileage rate in town

I had the WORST customer service experience in my life! I made a reservation to pick up a U-Haul truck and trailer from Jackson, MS. When we arrived, the truck was not at the facility. They sent us to another facility that had more trucks. When we arrived, they informed us that they did not have a trailer. They sent us on a wild goose chase to several more locations to pick up the rest of the equipment. It got to the point that we just said forget it. After spending several hours and using up the limited mileage on my truck, we were behind on loading and starting our trip to Atlanta, GA. By the time we got to Atlanta, the U-Haul storage facility on Peters Street was closing. The employee told me that I would have to come back the next day store my personal items. He checked me in and gave me a key. We went back the next day to unload my truck. We moved all of my belongings up to my storage unit. There was still a lock on my unit. We went back to the desk to have them remove the lock. It took them 2 hours to actually unlock my unit after complaining several times. Once they finally opened it, there was a large pole in the middle of the unit that took up valuable storage space. To top it off it was infested with baby roaches. We decided to not use this storage facility. As we were about to reload my belongings back onto the truck, about 6 people got stuck on the freight elevator. We informed one of the two employees that were working at the time. His response to us was, "It looks like it's their fault." He never went to check on them or try to get them out. We had to call 911 to get them out. As soon as the fire department got there, the second employee walked over and stuck his arm in the elevator to release the doors. He said this happens all the time. They let these people stay stuck in the elevator for 30 minutes in 100-degree weather. We even asked if they can get the people some water and they refused. So we went to the nearest store to grab the people some water. We could not longer handle working with U-Haul. We called Public Storage right down the street. Because of our troubles with U-Haul, Public Storage kindly gave us a FREE storage room. As we unpacked the U-Haul truck, we saw that the truck was infested with ants. They were in ALL of my personal items. We returned our U-Haul truck to a different facility. I would like a full refund of the $605.70 that I paid for the truck, $7.95 for the insurance that I paid on the U-Haul storage unit, and the $44.16 I was charged for going over mileage and a quarter tank of fuel. This was record breaking for the worst service I have ever had. I should have been paid to deal with this.

The gentleman that checked me out did not review everything with me. He only said the truck is 1/2 full return it 1/2 full. It's what he did not say that made me curious. Before leaving the lot I couldn't find the mileage reading from the odometer on the contract, so I took a picture of the mileage odometer. I'm glad I did, when I return the truck I was charged for more miles than I actually had driven based on the contract. I showed the clerk the error and after several minutes and questioning me they refunded the difference to my credit card. If I didn't have the picture I would have been charged the higher rate.

Have more experienced reps (or always have a manager present. Also, if the location that I go to initially isn't able to accommodate me, ask me which alternative location I would prefer as well as the truck size.

Inform customers that when they're paying $.69 per mile, that they also have to put gas back in that vehicle that they are rent one. Which I don't understand completely, why you're charging double.

My wife was told that we could pick up our trailer at the Northview Dr store, which is close to our house. However, when I went to get it the next morning, I was told that I would have to go to Hwy 80 to get it , which is on the other side of town. It made us 2 hours late getting on the road.
