I made my reservation well in advance and selected a specific pickup location because I was on a tight schedule for my move. Instead of honoring my reservation, I received a phone call five minutes after my scheduled pickup time telling me I had to drive to a completely different location. That kind of last-minute change is unacceptable and caused unnecessary stress and delays during an already overwhelming moving day. To make matters worse, the new location didn’t even have the appliance dolly I had reserved, so my order still wasn’t fulfilled as requested. Reserving equipment ahead of time should mean that it’s actually available when you arrive. If the truck or equipment wasn’t going to be available, I should have been notified well before my pickup time so I could make other arrangements. The lack of communication, poor planning, and failure to fulfill a confirmed reservation was extremely unprofessional. Customers rely on U-Haul to provide the equipment they reserve, especially during a move. This experience made an already stressful day much more difficult, and I hope U-Haul improves its reservation system and communication so other customers don’t have to go through the same thing.
