I placed my reservation/confirmed/Fully completed the online check in for a pickup location that was closest to my moving from/to residence. A day or two later, I received an email/phone call telling me that my pickup location was in another city. The representative that I spoke to was very nice and explained that reservations sometimes get bumped to different locations. In response to my concerns about the additional mileage, she explained that I could contact Uhaul to have my reservation moved back to where I scheduled it. However, she warned that this could possibly delay my pickup. She stated that she had my truck available and already packed with the dollies that I had requested. I arrived to the pickup location a few minutes earlier than my scheduled 7AM reservation time prepared to do a self pickup since the location wasn't open yet. The online agent requested two contact people. I would have preferred for this step to have been included in the initial online check in that I completed days before so that I could have made arrangements for my contact people to be awake that early. So my pickup was delayed because one of my contacts didn't answer the phone. Other options included a work verification (my job isn't open on the weekend), a passport (which I don't have) or a copy of my lease ( which I didn't know that I needed to bring with me). I asked the online agent if I could upload a copy instead of taking a picture of it as prompted during this additional online check in. He said sure, but never responded to my request for instructions on how to do that. So after repeatedly calling my contact, she finally woke up. I asked the online agent if he could call her back. After starting the pickup process at about 6:55, it was 7:24 before I gained access to my truck. Yet I was still expected to bring the truck back at 1PM which was within 6 hours of my reservation time, not the time I actually was able to access the truck.

I scheduled my pickup and return at a location near my new home on April 27. I received an email confirming this. On May 4, my pick up day, I received a text from uhaul at 1am , while I was sleeping, rescheduling my pickup for a different location that was farther away. The change cost me 30 extra miles, 1.5 hours in extra time and extra gas. Upon return to My Storage in montgomery Al on Dalraida road, I explained this to the employee who called her manager. The manager proceeded to tell me over the phone that I had chosen a preferred location not a scheduled location even though I had an email from uhaul saying my scheduled pick up and return location was the originally scheduled location. All I asked was a deduction of 28 miles in cost at .79 cents per mile, for a changed that occurred at 1am, the morning of pickup. The manager of My Storage , Chrissie Allen, was not at all willing to work with me, stated that I was wrong about the pickup and return even though I showed her employee a confirmed email stating my pick up and return at a different location. She was rude and displayed the fact that the customer, in fact, is never right. Her customer service on behalf of uhaul was terrible and I will NEVER use uhaul again in my life time.

Make the app process easier. It took 40 minutes to get the truck. The app lost connection, then the agent took a while through chat and then the key wasn't in the lock box. Maybe a youtube video someone doing the process would help.

There was a mix up about the cost of the rental. I'm partly to blame as web site quotes 29.99 and then under that it has for in town. I didn't notice that. When I called the person that assisted quoted me the 29.99 @ day rate. The final bill had 59.99 per day. I was going to call to dispute but checked web first and then i saw the 29.99 was for in town. I drove 100 miles to another city and back. I was partially at fault but I did tell person quoting that i would be driving roughly 200 miles but still I was quoted 29.99 before renting. Truck was excellent, clean, drove well, folks at store were also very nice. I would rate EX if not for the rate mix up.

Used mobile app for check-in but was still required to go in the office....except the office was closed with a “will return in 20 minutes” sign in the door. Tried to call and just got on hold. Attendant finally came to door. After I complained about having to come in, she attempted to blame it on me for not making it a 24-7 rental. I explained I had even already paid. She looked back into the computer saying that yes I had booked a 24-7 rental but I hadn't just before and U-haul must have just changed it. I just wanted to get the keys. Then at the truck discovered that truck as on empty. It was questionable if I was even able to make it to a gas station, which I was. Suffice it to say that out of probably 12 rentals and this was the worst. Will look into alternatives to U-Haul next time.
