UHaul overall is very expensive. I didn’t have time to shop around. No senior discounts. Ended up at Nicks as a last minute solution because another UHaul location was not going to be able to keep my reservation available. So a nightmare there kept us scrambling. Truck ok but no usb ports for charging phones, etc. So even if you have charge cord you are SOL unless you know to bring a cig lighter adapter. Driver door did not want to shut, had to keep slamming. Gal at Nicks very nice though, did her job well.
l wThere was some miscommunication between my booking and the location. I booked a counter check-in and not a mobile pick up because this was my first time ever renting one. When I got there, the reservation was there, and the truck was there but the lady at the location said my reservation was for mobile check in. She said just download the app, and see if it let's you check in. It did not. So she went over everything with me. She was kind and courteous. No issues but not flawless. They also did not have a dolly which I reserved. She told me that if I was later than my 4 hours estimated time, I would be charged for an extra day even though it's advertised as 24 hours for $19.95. she graciously changed my drop off time, but I thought that was very scammy. Everything else went well.
Shonica JEverything was going fine until the system went down, and I was stuck waiting an hour for it to come back up. That’s completely unacceptable. U-Haul needs to seriously improve its software reliability—especially since the phone agents admitted this is a common issue, particularly during peak times. Situations like this turn what should be a simple process into a frustrating and time-consuming experience.
