Very friendly and professional
I reserved a truck for a pickup location 225 Scotland Rd. in Orange NJ. I went to this location to pick up previously ordered equipment 5 days before my reservation. I was confirmed to have a reservation at this location. I then received a text message less then 24-hrs for my reservation that my pick-up location was 45 minutes away from where I needed the truck. I then called the Scotland Rd. location @ 9am (3-hrs before my pick-up time) on the morning of to confirm if my reservation was made for their location and was once again confirmed that my reservation was at their location and I could not check-in via phone, I would have to do that in store. When I arrived for my 12pm reservation I was told that none of the 30+ 15ft-trucks at their site was for my reservation and that had to pick up at the Exxon Station in Old Bridge, NJ, 45 mins away. The GM said their was NOTHING that they could do because my reservation can ONLY BE MADE FOR A PREFERRED LOCATION and does not mean your truck will be available in the city or town or county in which you requested it. I now go out of my way 25 miles to get a truck from an Exxon Gas station. To make it better, only 1 of the 3 previously ordered equipment I ordered for my move was available. I was told I would have to drive to ANOTHER U-HAUL location more then 1/2 mile away to rent the equipment from them. The bed of the truck was dirty and had debris from a previous renter. I took pictures and reported it. There was an already partially consumed bottle of water in the cab. I now go to ANOTHER U-HAUL location to get the additional equipment, of which I have to now pay for AGAIN. After being put out of my way I now had to take the highway home of which the toll both where EZPASS ONLY OR EXACT CHANGE ONLY. Of course there are no coins available NOR do I have my EZPASS because I was renting from a location that WAS LOCAL to my start point. After relocation to VA, I return the truck at 6:25pm to what, is supposed to be a 24-hr location. No one was present, so I recorded an video and took picture of the truck being returned with the equipment. I dropped the key in the lock-box and left. The next day I was charged a CLEANING FEE + EXTRA MILEAGE!!!! THE MILES UHUAL PUT ME OUT OF MY WAY TO ONLY THEN CHARGE ME AGAIN!!! I have pictures to prove the condition of the truck. I NEED TO BE CONTACTED IN REGARDS TO THE POOR CUSTOM SERVICE I RECEIVED AND REFUNDS OF THE ADDITIONAL CHARGES.
The drivers side mirror kept flopping down (too loose) that caused a lot of problems on a 290 mile drive I had to bend my head down every time I changed lanes
I returned the vehicle 15 minutes early and was charged an extra day
Manu was extremely knowledgeable and helpful when it came to returning the truck. He also took note of the fact that my reservation location had been moved from a convenient location to one that was over 45 minutes away.
Overall, the site was very good, but I had a hard time overall as two days before I was to move, I was told they didn't have the truck. Took several phone calls and a truck "showed up", but that was lucky. Surprised when you reserve something, it's not actually 'locked in'. Truck was a bit dirty which I cleaned up when I returned.
Everything from beginning to end was fantastic. The staff was helpful as well as knowledgeable and the equipment was top notch. Thank you to John and Alex for making my last move,hopefully,a pleasant one.

Everything went great. The gentleman I Old Bridge was very friendly and informative! Great job. I hope I don't have to move again, but if I do, I will definately use U-Haul again.
Overcharged for gas refill. The truck was rented with 103,772 miles and returned with 103,797 miles. Which makes it 25 miles usage. The load was very light, just voluminous. Put 2.45 gallons before returning. Got charged additional $9.20 for 2.3 gal more. So either the truck has very poor gas mileage or they plainly overcharged. Both ways it does not look good.
The main office that calls the day before your pickup is not very friendly. I have now rented 2 times and both times had to pickup in a different location then I wanted to.

I wasn't advised that I was responsible for cleaning the truck or I would have done so. I was charged an extra $100 for the company to â€œsweepâ€ the back of the truck. Very poor communication and business etiquette in my opinion.
We rented the U-Haul at a different location online. Then the night before when we were to pick it up we got a call saying we had to drive another 25 minutes out of our way to another location to pick it up. For paying $300 for a rental this is the worst customer service ever. You didn't offer to move the vehicle to the location we rented from not did you go out of your way for customer satisfaction, you only offered us 20 extra miles on our rental, big freakin deal considering this is the third time We've experienced this problem with U-Haul. As much as we've used your equipment I can tell you we'll be using another company from now on. U-Haul sucks.
