Rip-off Artists. I made a reservation for 14.95 a day for 1 day and they charged me $67.17. The invoice included 2 days at 18.95 a day and a $20.00 after-hours charge (I picked it up a 4:30 PM). Plus, tax on the erroneous charges. FYI - Services generally are not taxable unless they are related to the sale of tangible personal property, according to UC Davis Finance and Business. Example: A surcharge added to a bill for labor-related service performed after hours (e.g., plumbing repair) might not be taxable in California, as services are not generally subject to sales tax in California unless tied to a transfer of tangible personal property.
