Suggestion: When a customer states they have high quality car insurance that covers any vehicle being driven by them, do not upsell/imply dramatically that not taking the U-Haul insurance is a bad idea and then name the possible damages (which are already on the contract). The scare tactic may work with many customers, but be courteous when a customer declines the upsell. You tack on enough "fees," including two "environmental fees," that the base cost of the rental should cover. The U-hauls at this location are parked in a shared-with-other-vehicles lot across the street which required me during a previous rental to do multiple 3-point turns inch by inch to avoid hitting a car parked horizontally behind me and to carefully avoid cars parked on both sides of the van, and another car parked that narrowed the exit path, with only one exit choice out of the lot onto the street (the other option was one-way, entry only). Maybe U-haul is hoping the customer dings the van during this ridiculous maneuvering so they collect some extra money? For this recent rental, I asked if the office guy could drive the U-haul out of the lot onto the street for me and he said "No." I managed to navigate it out myself, not as many cars in the way, as last time, but when I returned, I parked it on the street! U-Haul managers, your rental process is mostly online, why not get rid of human staff and leave the keys in a lockbox and with the savings not paying for staff, you can eliminate a lot of upsell to customers. Oh, and I did take and upload pictures of the van into the online contract, pre-and-post rental, but the van was so filthy it was impossible to see if there were any pre-existing scratches and minor dings. The location for the downtown rental is great, though! I walk there when I need to rent a van.
NORA VThe vehicle was in excellent shape. The van had extra height which made loading and unloading very easy. Jesse was extremely helpful. Excellent service.
DANIEL RThe software on the checkin was problematic, especially the capture of images (front and back of driver's license, passport for non-driving renter, (worked poorly)) and images of vehicle (wouldn't accept photos from phone's camera).
HUNTER MThe cashier didn't explain the drop-off process. Had no idea what to do until I wanted up to drop off the key and saw the sticker to go to the website and fill out the survey.
