It was in an unsafe neighborhood. I was scared to even get out of my truck. They attached the trailer and were going to allow us to drive and then we asked about it being safe because it was very high. He said we should probably ly stop somewhere and get a lower hitch. He wasn’t pleased that we said take it off, we will go get one and come back and get it. $80 later, we go back and get the trailer. The driver was questioning the connection and wasn’t sure it looked right. We got on the highway and the trailer was all o er the place. We exited the highway not knowing g the area or where we were, but knew it was u safe to continue. About a block down there happened to be another U-Haul location. She told us to unhitch the trailer and come inside for the number to call. It only gets worse. I was hung up on twice by people on the scheduling department. They weren’t just rude, they were flat out mean. They expected me to somehow reattach the trailer and wanted us to drive it back to the original location. There was no way that was possible. Thankfully the kind woman the was working at the Colonial Ave U Haul, Melissa, went out of her way to help. She called Melissa in the local scheduling office who completely under the situation and helped to find a solution to get a refund. She said it would take a few days but after 45 minutes of dealing with people that would t listen or help, it was a relief to have somebody that was willing to help. Hands down it was one of the worst experiences and most frustrating. To send a young woman into that neighborhood, try to send her off with a trailer that was not hooked up correctly, and then be told by U-Haul employee to lift the trailer, and reattach it after I was told I can unhook it, and then told to drive it back even though it was not safe. The entire ordeal was awful. I’ll be waiting for my refund now.
JAMES CI had an 8am pickup at the U-Haul located on Orange Ave. Which did not open until 9am. So I waited an hour. At 9:05am, I called U-Haul who contacted this owner who stated they did not know when the employee would show. They moved me to another location on Campbell. That location had a lockbox that was not on the parking area of the vehicles. I had to call U-Haul again to reach the owner who had me walk down a block away to a automotive repair shop to retrieve the keys. I did not get my truck until 9:45am which I was paying a moving company $210 an hour who showed up at my house 8am to start packing. This was an awful experience and I will never use U-Haul again. The truck is old and was getting $4 mpg
Jessica JIt was a little hard to find the key dropbox after hours since the parking lot was down the block from the dropbox. Did not interact with any personnelle so that answer is actually N/A.
Alliefair SThe employees are friendly and make effort to be helpful. During the weekend, this place constantly has a line of people at the desk and it seems a little overwhelming for the employees. If you call during busy hours for any reason, you will be put on hold for an indefinite amount of time (until you get tired of it and hang up the phone) while they help the customers at the counter in the store. I ended up returning a Tow Dolly that I picked up from this location. I put the dolly in its original parking space and talked to the woman at the counter who told me I would be emailed a receipt and charged a small fee for returning it here rather than a different location where I was going to originally bring it. I was fine with this. I have not heard back from them yet and can not reach them by phone. I was able to talk to the Scheduling department (a separate uhaul office) by phone and at least have on the record that I did return it.
