The truck was fine but I won't be returning to this location. The location doesn't accommodate personal vehicle parking and directs customers to park across a busy road in a lot where there are signs posted that non-customer vehicles will be towed. I was concerned the whole morning that my car wouldn't be there when I got back. There were also a lot of people there pressuring customers to hire them as movers which I found bothersome.

And are prepared to file a lawsuite if necessary April 24, 2018 RE: Allegations of Disparate Treatment and Discriminatory business practices by Uhaul Moving and Storage at 12025 Parklawn Drive –Rockville, MD 20852 Store #: (819072)- (301) 231-9469 We respectfully wish to express our sincerest appreciation and gratitude for your indulgence. And we are herewith filing a formal complaint of racial and gender discrimination [Black male] (refusal to provide services accorded to the general public). First, we have been customers of the Uhaul company for greater than 40 years and find it absolutely appalling at the abject Disparate Treatment and Discriminatory business practices exercised by Uhaul Moving and Storage at Randolph RD, Rockville, MD 20652) Store #: (819072). In the instant case; we affirm that Store # (819072) policies requiring a customer to provide two (2) phone numbers in the customer’s name in order to receive service is disparate treatment and discriminatory. There is myriad empirical data in support of our contention that most economically challenged customers along with those customers of color routinely do not have more than one phone number in his or her name. On April 23, 2018 I made a routine call to Uhaul’s “800” customer number and reserved a 5’x8’ trailer. I rented the trailer to haul 20 bags of mulch, as I have done in the month of April for nearly 40 years. I am a retired Federal Executive having served as the Agency-wide expert on civil rights for the Office of the Secretary of the Navy. I have also served as an expert witness [civil rights] in U.S. Federal Court for the Office of the Secretary of the Interior. Subsequent to being denied service by a Uhaul representative on April 23, 2018; I was told by a Uhaul employee that he was “calling the police.” I stated emphatically that the company has had my two (2) phone numbers for over 30 years. And that I reaffirmed my two (2) phone numbers with the Uhaul “800” representative earlier on April 23, 2018. I’m told that there are audio and video tapes covering my transactions with the Uhaul company. My concern was that the actual policy of the company regarding being DENIED service when a customers has only one (1) phone number in the customer’s name results in disparate treatment and discriminatory business practices. The uhaul company representative became irate and extremely belligerent when I inquired as to the company’s policy regarding having two (2) phone numbers in the customer’s name. The company employee Danial informed me that he was doing me a favor by renting to me. On April 24, 2018 I returned the equipment to the Uhaul Moving and Storage location on Randolph RD, Rockville, MD 20652) Store #: (819072). This location was right off of a busy street far from the interstate. When we attempted to pull into the rental return lot, there was a very large, empty truck sitting in the driveway, which made it very difficult to maneuver our smaller vehicle in to the cramped and full parking lot.

I completed the express check in prior to my reservation. It still took over 15 minutes to retrieve the rental. The vehicle would not stay in gear and the vehicle needs a serious alignment for safety reasons. The check out process was equally challenging as the check in.

I returned the cargo van after business hours on Sunday evening and the parking lot in the back was almost full. I almost had to park in the road. A sign indicating what to do if the parking lot is full would be helpful.

It was after hours last night. Their lots were so full vehicles were sticking out the drive. I had to pull up on the sidewalk be ause there was literally no room and no where else to go. In some fashion you guys need to be able to calculate return limits.
