I had good customer experience. You have a solid team there. Instruct customers exactly where and how to park so that they do not block the entrance to the return parking lot. I wanted to return my truck after hours and when I went to drop it off the Uhaul trucks blocked the entrance into the return parking lot. I couldn't get Uhaul truck passed the other trucks and had to return it the next day.

Inform other location the response time that you guys take to take care of a customer . Getting them in & out . But also inform the customer what you are putting in the bill over the phone like the add coverage that I did not ask for , but I did not change because I needed to go . I felt like it would have taking more time to have it taking of the paper work & @ that time I did not have time to have it done. Other than that every thing was great.

Check in was a little confusing. I was told to drop the box truck in the back of the building which I did. No one was there to check it in so I walked around front and they said to go back where I was and wait for someone to check the truck in. When I went around back another gentleman was also waiting. He did the same thing I did, went up front and was told to go back to his vehicle and wait. Then 4 more vehicles arrived for check in at the same time. Eventually a guy showed up and checked me in, but it took about 30 minutes. He was efficient when he arrived and did apologize for the wait. It looked like between 6:00pm to 7:00pm (closing time) is also peak turn in time. They need more personnel at peak check in time.



The wait is to long even when you have made a reservation.

The 'self serve' option took about 35 minutes to complete whereas the counter service typically takes about 5. I am not sure what exactly was being uploaded from my phone but it took about 10 minutes with a good 3G signal (how about compressing images prior to uploading) so perhaps the bottleneck is on your end of this poorly designed application architecture. Lastly, the application asked me to confirm no damage on the vehicle which was difficult given that it was boxed in on all 3 sides by numerous other vans (I was barely able to squeeze in to move it). Of course I couldn't move the vehicle to inspect it until I had the keys; retrieving the keys required accepting no damage/reporting damage to complete the self-serve sign-in process (a classic Catch 22 situation not anticipated as a 'use case' by the utterly useless Development Team that flung together this steaming pile of dung). Therefore, I only spotted damage to the rear of the van after I was able to move it out. I assume the goal of this web service was to enhance customer service through increased efficiency. In this regard it is an utter and complete failure, making the entire transaction an unpleasant nightmare that erodes customer confidence and degrades the reputation of U-Haul as a competent business.

The truck was clean, drove well. But counter service was terrible: The one-way contract gave the wrong return location, not the one I directly asked for: No paid-for moving pads on the truck as promised. Sold an unusable wardrobe box (wrong hang bar). No refund as promised for the undelivered moving pads. And no manager available to deal with complaints. This is a big disappointment because I used this location in the past and was very satisfied with equipment and with the service. What happened to this place?

The dropoff process was unnecessarily complicated. At the pickup location I was told to call a phone number when I arrived at my destination city to get the dropoff location. However, I called the number (late at night after unloading the truck and moving my things to my apartment) and the 1-800 number basically said U-haul was closed and I was unable to get an operator on the phone. I decided to find the nearest U-haul about a mile from my location and drive the truck there. I found a new number to call when I arrived to double check I could leave the truck there. I was able to get a hold of an operator on this new number (via google) and they informed me I could not drop the truck there. I had to then drive about 20minutes to the next town over (the pouring rain didnt help). At the dropoff location, I then noticed (via the posted signs) I had to login and create a U-haul account to "check-in" the truck as returned. I attempted to login using basic informatoin it said I could use to see an account it said U-haul already established for me. However, there was no sign of any options to select "Return My Truck". I then contacted U-haul via the number I found previously, had the operator check the truck back. Overall, this check-in process should have been made clearer when I picked the truck up and made it clear I would be doing an after-hours drop off. After being on the phone with the operator she mentioned the information had been emailed to me. That would have been nice to have been told that at pick up. I dont know about you, but when moving out of state and moving to a new place in one day, I don't frequently check my email throughout the day. Between this lack of communication and the rain (obviously not U-haul's fault for weather) it really just made this process ridiculous. In the past, when using U-haul, I rememeber being allowed to either drop off at the closest location or being given clear direction at pick-up. Not to mention when you arrive you simply legally park the truck, clean out any excess trash etc, lock up the truck, and drop the keys in the drop box.

There is no on-site parking for your car. You have to cross a busy street and leave it at a shopping mall parking lot. People who served customers picking up vehicles couldn't tell me how to get back onto the main street. One offered to look it up on a map.

An hour to rent a reserved truck. too long.

My reservation was not at the agreed upon location. I had to talk them into giving me someone else's reservation. They blamed "traffic" for overbooking and "scheduling" blamed the site for giving away my reservation. I had to wait in line for what seemed to be well over two hours to try to figure out other customers problems along with my own misfortune. Once arriving to the counter to be helped, I was quickly dismissed and overlooked by the young lady who told me that I have no reservation ready for me at that site despite the fact that I had called to confirm that my truck was there and ready for me before even having someone transport me to and leave me at the site. The associate immediately moved to the very next counter and started helping another customer. So while standing alone at their counter with associates on both sides refusing to spend any more time than the initial two minutes That it took to tell me That I'm essentially stranded; I called the same number that told me my reservation was ready. The lady told me that I had a reservation for a larger vehicle for a more expensive rate than what I had reserved and agreed upon and that the location must have given my reservation away. She had said that I could get my vehicle from another location in Takoma Park but I would have to find my way there. She said she would give me a $50 credit if I went there instead. After almost an hour of being on the phone with the mostly the hold recording I had been invited behind the counter to make a simultaneous call for a ride home and I was then asked to leave by a man who just walked in with no knowledge of what I was having to endure. I struck a conversation with the man while on hold and was able to convince him to give me someone else's reservation like they had allegedly given mine away. While entering my information into the system I was offered and accepted a computer generated offer to change the drop of location from Germantown to Gaithersburg for a reduction from $111 to $81 when I was originally quoted $102. I was then charged over $125 for a vehicle that did not have as much gas in it as was reported on the documents that I had been given. After not receiving the promised discount I had to demand that my drop off location be changed back to Germantown where I had originally set it up for. This was done and recorded on my receipt and sent to me in an email. When I brought up the lack of gas to the lot attendant who had assured me that he would take care of such an issue should it occur, I was told to have a nice day and that they would take care of it when I return. They never provided me with the address in Germantown that I was supposed to drop off the truck like they assured me would be provided on the receipt. I had to call again to ask for the address. This is when I was told that I had to drop the vehicle off in Gaithersburg which was farther away, and that Germantown would not accept my return if I went there. When I returned th

There was a very long line, which normally I would not mind because it was a Saturday. However, when I was being helped, the person was not focused on getting our truck and he continued to get up and disappear without telling us where he was going or when he would be back. Additionally, three to four people that were in line behind us were helped and finished before we ended up getting our materials and truck. I found this to be unprofessional, thus I would not recommend this location again.
