Hi, I would like to speak with someone regarding two separate issues I had in my recent U-Haul experience, Contract number 22627177. First, I was unable to pick up the U-Haul until 2 hours and 15 minutes after the "guaranteed" time of pickup. It stated, "We have a 17' Moving Van reserved for you and guaranteed Saturday, 6/30/2018 at 7:00 AM, returning Monday, 7/2/2018 at 7:00 AM." I was never made aware that the pickup facility did not open until 9:30am, no one from U-Haul called me, and I was never provided an access code to pick up the vehicle before the facility opened. This was more than an inconvenience, since I was required by lease to be out of my previous apartment by noon on the 30th, and I relied on the "guaranteed" pickup date. Because U-Haul failed to meet its guarantee, I would imagine that the non-mileage charges ($89.85) would be fully refunded. Is that correct? Second, it rained while my rented vehicle was packed with all of my belongings, and many boxes and my couch got wet. The damage to boxes was minimal (a new 9'x13' glass pan shattered due to a soggy box. However, the couch was a family heirloom that I was very fond of, and it left a significant stain. It is important to note that I paid for "Safe Move" coverage. What can U-Haul do to rectify this? Overall, this experience with U-Haul has caused me the loss of a valuable family heirloom and much stress, and I am very dissatisfied. Please reply to this email or call me at 612.859.7575. We got a reservation for 8am on sat June 30. We arrived at St. Louis Park location and nobody was there. We didn’t receive any call saying office wasn’t open. Ended up waiting a little over an hour to get in office. Once we returned the U haul code we received to open gate after hours didn’t work. Ended up waiting 20 minutes for someone to open gate that had working code. Very frustrating on a long hot day

It was a very frustrating experience when I rented a 10’ truck for a few hours on my move in day. I was using the mobile app for convenience and right as I was about to pay online the man working in the office stopped me and said this wasn’t my truck. They said mine was not here yet. I was at the location for an hour and they gave me a van instead (I didn’t need the 17’ that they offered me). Unfortunately they didn’t offer me any other compensation for the troubles. I know they said that the app needs a lot of improvement but how was I supposed to know not to use it. Very disappointed in the situation because moving is a stressful day as it is.

The location that I picked up the uhaul was great however the location I was scheduled to pick up my reservation from had given away my truck by the time I had arrived. I was then asked to go to another location in St Louis Park which added miles to my use of the truck. My overall rating on using uhaul was not satisfactory.

I set up a tax exemption rental and the clerk did not know how to do it and he charged our organization sales tax. They do not return phone calls or emails. I went in yesterday and stood 45 minutes at the counter while Timmell told me how he was not trained for this and that it was my problem. I told him if I did not get my sales tax I will be filling a formal complaint with the Commerce Dept. We have been a long time renter and I am now forced to go elsewhere.

I was happy with this location until I received my invoice afterward. I was charged double what I expected to be, thanks to a complete miscalculation (on their part) not only of my mileage, but my return time. I've been attempting to contact UHaul to resolve this for over a week, with no success. SOMEONE HELP ME!

I filled the tank to previous reading per instructions from the customer service representative and I still was charged for 1.9 gallons. Although the receipt shows the tank is 40 gallons, the notice on the sun visor in the truck says 37 gallons. This charge is nitpicky.



The staff gave me the wrong passcode for entering the facility after hours. I couldn’t properly return the truck because I received a “code denied” message on the pin pad and couldn’t enter the gate

I tried to do a online check in which was a waste of time. So had to go into office and wait which I was trying to avoid. On top of that the truck smelled like urine so all in all not a good experience.

Challenging to have the trucks at a separate parking lot from the actual u-Haul location. Didn’t know where to go when dropping off as well. Also, had to drive truck back to that lot after check in. Bad process.



The check in was quick and simple. The employees were friendly. The vehicle was parked around the corner, about a block away. The office is located in a secure storage facility. They HAVE to park some of their vehicles slightly remotely in an area with 24/7 access to allow for 24 hour return. U-haul's after hours return was simple; it does require a smart phone and internet access.

I ordered and paid for two large sets of moving blankets, only to arrive to the location and was told that none were there. This was very inconvenient, as we had many fragile items to move and it was raining outside. There was a “u-haul guarantee” sign in the office that said we would be paid $50 if any equipment was missing, or if trucks weren’t there on time, and I was told that blankets do not count as “equipment”. I thought this was horribly misleading, and many of my items were damaged due to the lack of blankets (items not covered in the rain and not able to wrap them when traveling). Very disappointed with uHaul in general for this. I also did the “pre-checkin” online and when I arrived at the location, the employee had to re-enter all of my and my boyfriend’s information. It was not an acceptable experience.
