The 15-ft. truck was rented to me with less than a quarter tank of gas. Every other vehicle rental service has the tank full when you pick it up, with instructions to return it with a full tank. This has proven to be the fail-proof (and fool-proof). It is the industry standard. U-Haul has abandoned this protocol, making the impossible demand upon the customer to accurately replace the amount of fuel used. There is no way to do this accurately, and there is no corporate statement or guarantee that the old school analog fuel tank needle has been calibrated and is accurate. This procedure is highly inappropriate and non-professional, and it put me in a very uncomfortable position. All I could do was take a photo of the odometer at pickup and when i arrived at the gas station to refill. There was no documented MPG information for the vehicle, so i checked ChatGPT for any such info. It came back with 10mpg, so that's what I used. If this is U-Haul's new procedure for the future, then this is the last time I use them. Wake up U-Haul!!!
RICHARD PThe app didn't work for the after hours return. Working through the steps and would get sent back to step 1. Step 3 refused to accept answers and move on. I needed to call, wait, and get a human to add notes saying the app didn't work.

MICHAEL PI would have given a higher rate but I was charged an additional gas charge of nearly $8. We gassed up and did it again when Zi noticed needle was not in the full needle. Despite the nozzle constantly clucking off( as it does when tank is full), we put more gas in . The same thing kept happening and gas was going on the ground The dollar and change probably went in the ground as nozzle kept clicking off every few seconds and we kept trying to put more in. Looking at my online receipt, I could not believe I was charged nearly $8 . I do not understand how any more gas could have gone in. Somebody should see where needle goes when they fill the tank. I have two receipts. I put $18 in the tank.
