We spent about an hour just to pick up a truck and trailer that we ordered online, and we were the only customer being serviced when we arrive. This was due to problems with POS system, and then one of more senior service reps (we had 2 since one was newer) had real attitude. For various reasons, she kept delaying the whole pick up. The rental was for work. I knew very clearly what I was coming for. I came very specifically for a truck and the smallest possible utility trailer (4x9 to 5x9)-- she kept trying to sell me on something else i.e., cargo trailer and largest utility trailer (6x12). My colleague was with me, he's less patient than me. We had no clue what her problem was. Very frustrating. The only reason why we would come back is for close proximity to our office, large store with parking, vehicle availability, and possibility of working with other good reps.

My reservation was for for Santa Clara, but ,when I went to Santa Clara office to receive the equipment , they said that “my reservation location is Fresno”, I was surprised. Because I make a reservation for Santa Clara location. Luckily the customer service lady helped me to get the equipment. I thank her. This a mistake needs to be corrected.

The storage unit (10x10x10) that I reserved by phone was NOT RESERVED EVEN though I had a reservation number. It was not even available when I reserved it, it was not available afterward YET the website still shows it is available today and I can imagine calling the same person and reserve it again even though there is no real storage unit associated with that reservation. Me reservation number was 707028-103354. A drive up 10x10x10 at the 2121 Laurelwood location. But the clerk said he has not had a drive up available for months !!! The result was me having all my belongings in the parking lot in the U-Haul truck I rented BUT NO WHERE TO PUT MY BELONGINGS. I was homeless and stuck with your truck !!!! Imagine you move into a new appartment and by the time your moving truck is in the deiveway, the appartment has people in it and was never planned to be available for the past months !!! This can easily be a lawsuite. The problem was not the truck but the CORPORATE reservation system. Leaving people homeless with their belongings stuck in your truck is not a service that should be possible. Your reservation system is most destructive for people lives, it is CRIMINAL cquaing damge to your cuatomers. Your reservation system deserves to have a lawsuite because that fucking 10x10x10 at that location is still marked available on the web today !!! Ass wholes !!!

The cargo van could've been cleaner. And also the AC and the vent buttons were stuck at ON. There was no way to turn off the AC and have air flow from outside. We had some IKEA furniture to haul less than 40 miles so wasn't a big deal, but something that should be fixed.

The process for getting the truck took longer than expected, because the system kept freezing on the agent for some reason. The agent eventually, had to circumvent the problem by creating a contract for a different truck then changing the contract back to the original truck. If IT can look at why the system was freezing to avoid that in the future, that would be great.

Originally, I was scheduled to pick up a truck in San Jose, but got a call that it would not be possible and it would be moved to Santa Clara. Terry helped me with that and was very helpful in explaining the process. I tried an early pickup and that failed miserably. I needed a code to pickup the key, which was not in an email and I could not find the code online anywhere. Then, I was talking with a representative named Crystal who needed to "call a family or friend" to validate the early pickup - this was not mentioned anywhere when I scheduled for a self pickup, and even though I told the representative that my wife left her phone at home, she still tried to call it and just said, "no one is answering". It was very frustrating as I did not know anyone else's phone number to give and the representative was very unhelpful in offering other solutions. Megan helped me out in the morning - she was wonderful to work with. She got me back on track, along with a gentleman whose name I didn't pick up but was planning to watch star wars later that night. Lastly, I didn't realize I would have to take a picture of the mileage and gas level before dropping off the keys if I returned the truck after hours so I called in the next morning, and a different gentleman took my call and said he'd email the receipt to me after they checked it back in, which he did and that was great as well. Overall, all the employees at the Laurelwood Santa Clara location were very helpful!!

When I reserved the "car carrier" I was asked the make and model of the vehicle I would be towing. I told them is was a small farm tractor - make Kabota model B2910. I picked up the carrier as scheduled, then drove 175 miles to get the tractor, only to discover I had the wrong size trailer. I spent 55 minutes on the phone to various "service" people (8 people in total)....Including one who was 2,000 miles away and questioned me why I was calling him since his territory was Ohio (I had been transferred from a prior customer "service" agent)...every attempt to get help resulted in failure. I dove the 175 miles back home in frustration, turned in the vehicle and showed pictures of the tractor butted to the ramps, clearly showing that the wheelbase of the tractor was too narrow and would have fallen between the wheel ramps. I told them I did not want to pay for the trailer since it was UHaul who selected that unit for my application. I asked for a credit for the ~$150 rental fee. I spoke to 2 people there. The man said the boss is out for a few days... call him later in the week because no one there had the authority to make a decision. The woman then told "I don't think you'll get your money back. You accepted the trailer." WOW !!! I lost a day of work, put 350 needless miles on my Chevy Suburban and lost $150 too. If I were in Podunk Kansas, I might expect a lack of service.... but not in Silicon Valley. IF I can reach the manager and become a satisfied customer I'll be back... but if not.....So long forever UHaul...either way UHaul, Start hiring people you can entrust to make decisions.... especially decisions that will retain customers.

I selected to return the trunk at South San Jose during initial confirmation and have print out to show. Yet because the Fremont Uhaul site borrowed the trunk from Santa Clara main site, I was told to return it to Santa Clara or I will get charged a location fee! This is a very sneaky practice and breach of contract.
