We rented a 2 wheel car hauler. It was our 1st time using one and we were not at all familiar with this equipment and we expressed that to the associate at this location. We were in contact with this location several days prior to picking up equipment because we wanted to make sure they were going to show us how to hook our car up to the trailer. When we arrived no one was at location, they had a sign on door saying they were closed due to bad weather. However the weather wasn’t bad. I called the U-Haul number given on website and they said they would call the manager at that location and have them come to shop. When the lady arrived ( whose name is Charmaine). She had a noticeable attitude and when we were asking her questions about how to hook the car up to trailer is was obvious she didn’t want to help us. She seemed as if she was in a big hurry and rushed to help us hook the car up to trailer. My husband asked her about 2 chains that were attached to the trailer and he asked if it was suppose to be attached to car, she said no. He also asked if the clamps we’re suppose to be centered in the middle of the tire, she said it didn’t matter. We trusted she knew how the car was suppose to be hook up to trailer, she never said she didn’t know. We left for our 12 hour drive from Selma Alabama to Detroit Michigan. About 4 hours into trip my husband heard a loud noise coming from the trailer. We pulled over at the next gas station to find the car had slid half way down from trailer and the straps had come off. We were very terrified to know we almost lost our car and the tragedy that could have occurred if the car came off while we’re driving on interstate. Thankfully, we met a man who was willing to help us get car back on tow trailer and strap it down the best he knew how. Which turned out to be the right way and not the way she told us to hook it up. She fed the straps into the clamps backwards, which is why the straps slid off during the ride. Luckily, we made it to Detroit without car slipping off trailer again. But, when we got to drop off location, the attendant came out and the 1st thing he said was, we were suppose to have the safety chains attached underneath car in case the car slid down, which it did . I am so grateful we didn’t lose our car and that no one was hurt during this difficult and scary situation. I had to write this review because we don’t want anyone to experience the horrific experience we had.
