I rented a pick-up last Sunday. All was well, except i received the truck with the gas almost empty at exactly between 1/8 and 1/4 tank. The paperwork showed it had more gas in the truck than it actually did, but the very nice employee agreed the paperwork was wrong and noted where the gas level was and I was on my way. I turned the truck back in early and dealt with the store manager who was one of the most rude and incompetent people I've ever dealt with in customer service. I'll explain in a moment. I gave the store manager the keys and she said she'd send me a receipt. I asked if we needed to inspect the truck and look at the gas level, it was in the exact same place as when I picked it up. She said we didn't need to inspect the truck or the gas level. I left, at that time. I received a receipt, via email, about 30 minutes later. The office manager charged me for 3 gallons of gas even though the tank was exactly as I received it between 1/8 and 1/4 tank. I went back to the store and told her we needed to fix the invoice as I was charged $15 for gas. I asked her to walk to the truck with me and inspect the gas gauge and she said "it doesn't matter. It's not going to change anything. I read the gauge and what I say is all that matters." I told her I had a picture of the gauge and she said "I don't care." We looked at the gauge together and it was exactly where I left it and she still refused to remove the charge. I asked her for her manager's name and she refused to give it to me. At that time, the young lady that rented me the truck that morning said she would help me. The office manager said "I need her to get out of my store, " in reference to me. She continued being extremely rude while her employee, who provided exceptional service, helped me. She couldn't remove the charge and the manager refused to do it. The other employee walked me out to the truck and confirmed that the office manager made a mistake reading the gas gauge and that I was overcharged and said she'd call management and have the charge removed. Once I left I called the Uhaul 800 number and reported the incident, via a message, for the manager of the 90755 zip code. He was emailed about the incident and I have not received a call back yet. I called back the following day, yesterday, and left another message regarding the incident and have not received a call back, at this time. Again, the office manager's behavior was completely unacceptable. Her name is something like Charmelle. I called and asked for her name, today, and she gave me a fake name on the phone. The other employee was exceptional. She was attentive and calm during the entire situation even when her boss was acting like a petulant child who has no business being in a managerial position. I'll update this review once the issue has been resolved and I'll provide names of particular employees and management. I'd appreciate hearing from Robert, the manager for the area code 90755. Great customer service from the local site, where I was in and out quickly with a smooth drop off as well. Less impressed by U-Haul's app and website (both down and buggy) and the promise of a "Self Serve" option that didn't work/exhist as this location. Doing the things the "old fashioned way" worked just fine because the team at Signal Hill Self Storage was great.

Tried to do the self check in - didn't work and took me over an hour to get it sorted out. I ended up having to drive an extra half hour (which also meant paying more milage) and getting a different truck than I wanted (a pickup instead of cargo van) in addition to the overall frustration of getting transferred 7+ times on the phone and taking an hour. One I got the truck, the equipment was good.
