Improve the information update for the potential price change if you alter the time and date of your reservation. Help customers with information to obtain liability insurance and make sure people know they are only covered for $200,000 if they do not have their own auto insurance policy!!

The customer service person was awful to work with. I had done the original reservation online, then I called 3 days before as we had some changes and were going to be able to return it earlier than originally planned. He said at that time it was fine and that returning it early wouldn't be a problem. When I showed up to get the U-Haul he made it a huge deal about how I should have changed it before I got there as now he had to redo the entire reservation. He was fairly condescending during the entire interaction. He then demanded I sign the paperwork saying the truck was clean/undamaged before I could see the truck myself to verify this was the case. When I said I wanted to see it, he threw the paperwork at me and said 'fine, go find it' in a way that made it clear this was anything but fine. I did wonder during the interaction if part of his issue was the fact that I am female. This absolutely upsets me. If I have need for moving supplies and so on again, I will go anywhere else. I will not return here.

I did want a 5X8 cargo trailer, not an open utility trailer and was told the only one available was at the Topaz location. The move from Sooke to Langford made pick up at the Topaz location impractical so had to cancel that reservation. However, the move went very well with the open trailer and I was overall pleased with the service.

This particular truck needed front end work, as it tended to wander on the road. Other than that, and fuel mileage, it was clean, easy to load, and was a positive experience.

It was a convenient drop off for us in Sooke as we live in Shirley. The building is very small and crowded (and warm!) but since it is small they are doing the best that they can. They were helpful and we had prompt service.

Horrible. Truck we reserved wasn’t available. We paid for 5 days but Port Moody started calling us the 2nd day leaving angry messages wondering where the truck was. 1 hour on the phone and 1 hour at drop off location before it was sorted out. Truck was dirty inside. Had to drop off at a location 40 minites away from our home. I won’t rent U-Haul again. Angry customer.

This location was very helpful. What I didn't enjoy about this rental is having to drive 60km out of my way to pick up my rental as apparently, the item I reserved was not available at my preferred location. In talking to the rep at this location, he informed me that the item was moved the day prior to their location - and the kicker is it likely passed by (or very close to) my preferred location.

We have two major problems with this rental. 1. Location: We agreed with the rental of a unit at the Victoria BC location, but a couple days before pick up we got an e-mail relocating the pick up in SOOKE BC. And we were on a very restrictive time frame. The Sooke BC location add two hours to the pick up time. AND an extra two hours drop off time to the schedule. 2. Confirmation from Mr. P. Lacombe: After discussion with Mr. Lacombe as he was going to charge us two days of rentals instead of the original one day rental. He "Pierre Lacombe" assured me that only one day would be charge. We hooked up the unit and we did what we had to and when we finished we drop the unit at the "Closed" location in Sooke, BC. 3. Vacation and time restriction: Both the lady at the Victoria and Mr. Lacombe at the Sooke location were informed of the time restriction and our coming vacation. And both assured us that they understood the issue and we booked the unit accordingly. NOW, we did an extra 4 hours drive to pick up and drop off at the Sooke, BC location because of a break down of the unit at the Victoria, BC location. AND TO TOP IT OFF, we got charge for two days of rentals. TOTALLY NOT ACCEPTABLE. Raymond Hall

I dropped the truck off just after they closed I could not find a drop off box only a soup can on fence. When I called topaz the first time the woman I talked to about dropping the truck off I was told I had to download the app which didn't work because I went into store to rent the truck so it didn't find my contract or reservation number. I had to call them back again the guy I talked to checked the truck into the Sooke location and told me to leave the keys under the seat. Once I got in the truck and drove away I noticed that their was not as much fuel in the truck as they said, it as only a hair over 1/4 and not at the 5/16's I returned it at and was still charged extra for fuel, I even took a picture to prove it was at 5/16's and that the back was clean. I expect the next truck I rent to actually have the indicated amount of fuel in it. I did also mention the smell of fuel, I could smell at front, could be a possible leak causing the extra fuel charge. The smell at rear could be coming out of tailpipe could be because it is not running properly.

The first truck we received had a stuck brake, resolving in a sparks and flames shooting out from the tire. Another driver flagged us down and called 911. We had to drive 40 km to Victoria to pick up a new truck in rush hour. When we arrived the truck we received was a local only rental. We had to wait 45 minutes for an appropriate truck to be assigned. We will not use UHaul again.
