Waited 40 minutes to take my truck. Truck was very dirty and when i asked for furniture pads to cover the floor, they told me you can take some if you can find any around. I reserved the truck with 2 dollies 16 days earlier, and when i arrived, they told me they dont have any.

Janos MDear U-Haul Customer Service Team, I'm writing to share detailed feedback about my rental experience from yesterday, which unfortunately was quite poor. To begin with, when I arrived, there was only one employee on site, and he wasn’t even scheduled to work that day. He initially tried to hand me the wrong truck. While bringing out the correct one, I heard loud scraping noises, and it turned out the truck got scratched along the side. He was doing his best, but his internet wasn’t functioning at all, and I had to share my own connection just to complete the paperwork and finalize the rental. Furthermore, the manager I spoke with over the phone was quite impolite. He wasn’t overtly rude but was definitely unhelpful, and was supposed to be on site but was nowhere to be found. I was also told that the two movers I had booked through your service were supposed to meet me at the rental location and that I had to transport them to the actual move site myself—something I was never informed about. After waiting over two hours with no show, I had to start the move on my own because I was already late for my scheduled pickup time. Additionally, I had rented moving dollies and furniture pads. The employee came back almost immediately to inform me that there were no pads available and that they would simply remove them from my order. As a result, some of my furniture was damaged during the move because we lacked the proper protection. On the road, the right side mirror was not properly secured. It completely loosened after the first bump, leaving me without a functional right mirror in Toronto traffic, which was extremely unsafe. When I finally returned the truck late, an employee named Salomon (different from the pickup guy) handled the check-out. Thankfully, he was present, but I saw other customers also complaining that the app wasn’t working properly. Overall, the entire experience was frustrating from start to finish. We also called customer service during the rental to ask about the missing labor help, and only then were we told that we had supposedly been refunded for that service—something I was never notified of by email or otherwise. We had to pay full price last-minute for replacement labor, which caused delays and made the entire move more chaotic and physically exhausting for us. In summary, I’d like a clear explanation of what happened with my reservation and a refund not only for the inadequate vehicle and service but also for the additional labor costs and the trouble we endured.
