Easy rental all the way

We had a very bad experience at this Uhaul rental location. The owner of the place completely lacked the knowledge to run the booking system and incorrectly charged us before we were able to take the vehicle. Due to his poor skill with operating the Uhaul system as well as his own POS system, it resulted in a 1 hour delay for us to leave his store with the truck. Our booking was for a 24 hour period, and the owner mentioned to bring the truck back the next day at the same time we left the previous day. When we returned the next day, he charged us a $50 late fee even though we had returned to the store the same time we left the day before. He did not own up to his responsibility of causing the delay for us, and demanded to charge us the “late fee” that had no meaning. All of these time records are evident on the initial estimation receipt and the final payment receipt. We are extremely upset with this horrible experience with this Uhaul dealer, and felt that he took advantage of us, or worse, tried to scam us. In addition to writing this review, we are planning to call an Uhaul customer service representative today (September 4th) to discuss this issue.

Just awful dealing with this location....unanswered phone calls, leaving messages without getting a return call. Was a half hour later than planned on picking up the truck, and they were closed. The clerk (name of Jason), came out minutes later, told me that they were closed, and would not go back in to let me sign the paperwork and get the van I needed for my move. Went thru endless waiting times trying to connect to U Haul in Canada, and finally reached a US line, and with the wonderful caring operator (name of Janice in Florida), got things sorted out. Only problem, it was going to be at the same location in the morning. Thankfully Jason was not working, and a young lady saw my transaction handled smoothly. Go back to U Haul in the future....not very likely. Will try to find another rental company with better customer service.

Unit was listed as full. After driving 1 mile I noticed it was less than 3/4. Called and instructed I need to fill tank. Drove a total of 5 miles, $30 gas. Not impressed at all.

When picking up my rental cargo van on a Sunday, the customer service agent was pleasant. I inspected the exterior with the service agent present, but had not checked the interior. I discovered when trying to load my child’s bed inside, that the previous clients had left it filthy, full of soil, pebbles & dust, and reeking of cigarette smoke, which I then had to deal with by placing my own blankets & sheets down so my own furniture would not pick up all the debris. Customer service should have cleaned the vehicle before allowing it to be rented out to me; it should not have been up to me to point this out to them. Luckily the agent taking my call the next day was understanding and assured me I would not be charged a cleaning fee for the previous client’s lack of care, or the rental agent’s neglect to clean the vehicle before releasing to me. Lesson: inspect inside and out before accepting the keys.

Vehicle had numerous electrical wiring issues - passenger window stopped working and stayed down the entire time which was really awkward while trying to move with valuables. And the driver's side automatic lock function only worked intermittently.

Wow..had great service and a very pleasant experience at the Uhaul dealer at 151 West 7th Ave. Staff were excellent, truck was clean and everything was efficient. Did all my move in 21/2 hours and done for the day.

The location experience was excellent. Curtious and informative. The online and call centre experience was very poor. Bookings were not where I wanted or when. This was not clarified to me. Please review my booking phone call. Overall I felt the suggested time limit for no financial gain but a financial penalty was really poor customer service. Left me feeling like looking for opportunities to price gouge or short the customer.

I reserve the U-Haul for 11 am pick up at this location. This U-Haul was given to another person by mistake. This person claimed to be me, the person who made the reservation. U-Haul in goodwill will provide me with a $50 credit. I was fortunate to obtain another U-Haul from Freeway Mini Storage at 3555 E. 5th Ave., Vancouver.

I only used the vehicle for 16 miles and the gas gauge went from near full to half a tank so quickly! Total scam. I ended up spending $50 on gas. Won't use this location again.

Use a different location than Guardian Storage. The attendant, Miriam Balderas, was extremely rude and hostile while processing my rental and refused to answer a few questions I had. I spoke with a Uhaul representative over the phone afterwards who was professional and answered my questions. The attendant at Guardian Storage clearly did not want my business nor did she care about her job, even suggesting that if I made up a telephone number as a reference for the rental it was not her concern or problem. I don't expect good service in general but I have never been treated with such hostility and disrespect at any company before. This location is very dirty and so small I had to back the cargo van into a very tight space, increasing the probability of damage to the vehicle. I parked the vehicle for the attendant because I had the impression she could not do it herself. I liked dealing with Uhaul, the rates are excellent, but the attendant should be able to park or retrieve the vehicle if necessary and should be able to provide a basic level of customer service. I would never use Guardian Storage for any reason whatsoever.

I never received a confirmation email from UHaul the day before the rental date. That would have been desirable. Plus, when booking online, your website stated it was .30 per kilometre; however, the rate when picking up the van was .49. Not a big deal, as we didn’t put on many kilometres, but consistency would have been nice.

I was over charged on my rental. I guessed how many km's I would use but it was way less. They charged my bank before even using the truck and never made any changes when I brought it back with much less kms used. The business is really poorly ran and I had no idea what the hell was going on. Really upset about the experience.
