I reserve the U-Haul for 11 am pick up at this location. This U-Haul was given to another person by mistake. This person claimed to be me, the person who made the reservation. U-Haul in goodwill will provide me with a $50 credit. I was fortunate to obtain another U-Haul from Freeway Mini Storage at 3555 E. 5th Ave., Vancouver.

I only used the vehicle for 16 miles and the gas gauge went from near full to half a tank so quickly! Total scam. I ended up spending $50 on gas. Won't use this location again.

Use a different location than Guardian Storage. The attendant, Miriam Balderas, was extremely rude and hostile while processing my rental and refused to answer a few questions I had. I spoke with a Uhaul representative over the phone afterwards who was professional and answered my questions. The attendant at Guardian Storage clearly did not want my business nor did she care about her job, even suggesting that if I made up a telephone number as a reference for the rental it was not her concern or problem. I don't expect good service in general but I have never been treated with such hostility and disrespect at any company before. This location is very dirty and so small I had to back the cargo van into a very tight space, increasing the probability of damage to the vehicle. I parked the vehicle for the attendant because I had the impression she could not do it herself. I liked dealing with Uhaul, the rates are excellent, but the attendant should be able to park or retrieve the vehicle if necessary and should be able to provide a basic level of customer service. I would never use Guardian Storage for any reason whatsoever.

I never received a confirmation email from UHaul the day before the rental date. That would have been desirable. Plus, when booking online, your website stated it was .30 per kilometre; however, the rate when picking up the van was .49. Not a big deal, as we didn’t put on many kilometres, but consistency would have been nice.

very helpful, fast check out and check in, and super nice customer service

I was over charged on my rental. I guessed how many km's I would use but it was way less. They charged my bank before even using the truck and never made any changes when I brought it back with much less kms used. The business is really poorly ran and I had no idea what the hell was going on. Really upset about the experience.

Easier to find. Access is down a back alley.

The customer service is horrific. Trying to find someone in the location was even a difficult task to start. Not to mention she was incredibly rude with each interaction. This is the closest location to my home, however I would rather go to any other location next time I need a truck.

Provide gas milage estimate had to guess on amount of fuel when refuling to 3/8 of a tank. Fuel is now over $1.50L in Vancouver.

It was difficult to find based on the address listed - maybe make it more prominent that the access is through the alley. Also the very steep parking spots is what didn't make this an excellent location

i drove 29 kms which equals,,18 miles total for the day..... i finished day and added $ 15.00 dollars fuel and the pump would have still kept going if i didnt stop was to be fuelled when i picked it up ?????????? so why did i pay too much,, well i paid for the last guy who didnt fill up and i helped out the next future guy,, so fuel should be on a scale system when renting,,,,looks quiet clearly the gas station shell 4 blcks away they should have someone take it there and fill it after each costumer.....or give customer a fuel card with a $ 10.00 limit on it and they can use it one time only,,at time of pickup and return card to office with unused portion,,,this way you can charge previos guy the amount the next day because you still have his credit card and you know he didnt fill -up like he was supposed too.....if u bring van back scratched up you would get billed for damages, after its repainted,, so whats the difference with fuel Homer Simpson ? did you catch any of this drift ??

Your Address wrong on order. It's 157 not 151 w7th. Other than that everything was excellent.

Awful customer service. The employees at the location were late and slow.

Self pick-up process is very long, slow and complicated. This is something you have to learn from regular rental companies

Location being in an alley with a steep parking area is not very appealing.

Clean the truck - there was garbage in it

Eva was having problems with the internet (not her fault) I did the quick reservation onlne so things would move fast....that did NOT happen and at the end of the dat after signing out i was late for my next appointment.

The unit was clean, but it smelled awful. Like wet dogs or livestock...

Miriam M. on

The car smell like wet dog. Besides that, everything was great.

Parking is very tight if there is a car in the stall next to the truck. Recommend getting a different spot in the lot.

The LOCATION is excellent because it is central and very convenient. However there are some problems I encountered during the rental experience. The parking lot has a steep grade, so it can be tricky maneuvering the truck if you're not familiar with driving utility vehicles. Helps to have another person to spot for you. The self pick-up process is FAR FROM PERFECT. The lady working at the storage business ended up offering to do a manual check-in and pick up after seeing me wait for a long time for the online photo verification to be processed. It was also very hard to do a thorough pre- and post- inspection, as it gets dark completely by 4:30pm during the winter here, and the interior lights of the vehicle wouldn't turn on (hence equipment NOT well maintained). One of the lights in the cargo area was loose and dangling from the ceiling. BILLING -- it would help immensely if it had been explained to me either by UHaul or by the point-of-purchase contact that there would be a hold on my credit card. I ended up spending time calling customer service the next day, only to be told that the amount charged (which happened to be about 20$ more than the actual amount incurred) I saw on my credit card was a HOLD, that it would be released, and the correct rental charge would be charged. Very confusing. What is intended to be a time-saving and convenient application (online self pickup) and efficient way to maximize rentals (having other businesses contracted to administer rentals) turn out to be more time and labour consuming. I hope UHaul fixes these inefficiencies lest it accrues a bad reputation!

Real time status online as some dealers can't guarantee vehicle if booked day\before last minute. Location is great but a little tight getting in and out. Payout dealers more money . Get dealers to provide 14 step behicle checklist beforejand as some customers won't have internet or smartphone. Also on a side note, spoke with Tashi and Trudy ref#1617569 & 1615468 regarding complaint. Apparently i was supposed to get a call back next day fom corporate head office but never did... Either way service and vehicle was excellent overall. Thanks. Michael.

It was nearly imposible to get the vehicle out of the garage and we got no help even when we asked.

The agent at Guardian Storage in Vancouver insisted that I sign the forms BEFORE doing an inspection and then insulted me personally when I requested an inspection. She also refused to allow entry to the cab of the vehicle unless I signed the insurance/inspection forms and then went on to promise to 'be very picky' when I returned the vehicle because I was being 'difficult' and 'ridiculous' for insisting that I was entitled/required to follow the very clear UHaul procedure. The video of this experience can be viewed here: The same agent also refused to do an inspection when I returned the vehicle saying that she would do it when she wanted, maybe in half and hour, maybe an hour, or tomorrow morning if she wanted. You can hear audio of the exchange here: The service was horrific, rude, and completely unprofessional. My calls to UHaul to file a complaint were noted but UHaul did nothing else to help the situation. The agent was not contacted to my knowledge, I was refused the option to change drop-off locations (given that she said that she would find damage even if I did not damage the vehicle), and no assistance was offered when I called to report that the agent would not conduct a check in inspection. Over all the UHaul experience made moving more stressful and difficult. I would not recommend this operation to anyone and have publicly posted my video recording of the terrible service so others can see exactly what transpired. UHaul should be willing to take responsibility for the conduct and service of their representatives. I have filed a complaint ref# 1610172. The name on the account is Walter Bradley Gooderham. I hope to hear back from a UHaul representative in the near future. Brad.
