We rented a UHaul and paid for extras; utility dolly, furniture dolly and furniture pads. When we went to pick up the truck, the supervisor told us he didn't order any of the additional moving equipment we required and we would only get the truck. This was a huge inconvenience as we were given no notice and had to scramble last minute to organize a way to transport boxes from condo to the truck, which ended up delaying our move out and costing us more money. The truck itself was filthy on the inside. We have to sweep out the back which was covered in debris and muck. On the dashboard, the tire pressure light was continuously flashing, the engine warning light was on and the driver seat could not be adjusted at all, making it dangerous to drive as I could not properly reach the gas/break peddles. Tried calling customer support to get another vehicle and no one answered, I kept get transferred to UHaul reps in different locations across Canada (not the Vancouver site) and eventually asked for an urgent call back due to the seriousness of not being comfortable driving the vehicle and no one called me back. The guy who rented us the UHaul (Boss Meats - 3216 W Broadway Vancouver) was extremely rude, did not care that we had no way to move boxes without the dollys or furniture pads and he wouldn't move his van so we could enter the UHaul truck through the driver side, he made us climb in over the passenger side door and reverse out with the wing mirrors tucked in which was also dangerous. With all of the above, it would have been cheaper and more efficient to rent a pick up truck from a standard car rental place. Would not recommend UHaul to a friend. I called your customer service line on Monday following the move and they were lovely but overall we would appreciate a refund since we did not get the service we initially requested/paid for and we had to pay additional fees for last minute help.
