I had better service from the young man working at a 'local only' U-Haul location who helped me find the best price for the product I wanted. When I went in to the Topaz Ave location to enquire & book a truck I was told nothing was available. Shortly thereafter I phoned the Queens Ave location, and after a brief talk with the lady I had booked the size of truck I was looking for. I was flabbergasted when my reservation confirmation was sending me back to Topaz where there was supposedly nothing available. Additionally, the first young man that I mentioned, as well as the online information, told me the rate would be cheaper if I returned the truck to Penticton. The lady I booked with on the phone told me it had to go back to Kelowna. But the man that actually did the paperwork on the day of rental was able to change it to Penticton. U-Haul's frontline and phone reps need to all get on the same page. I could see by the body language of the older gent at Topaz who told me nothing was available, that he was more concerned about keeping inventory on the Island and close to their store rather than empathize with my (the customer's) needs. Generally speaking, I understand that the pick-up/drop locations are franchises, but if U-Haul Canada is going to advertise its wide selection of trucks/trailers don't you think that maybe those products should be available? I ask/say this because there wasn't a single 5x10 or 6x12 trailer anywhere on Vancouver Island. U-Haul charges more for dropping in smaller centers; maybe U-Haul should also cover the expense of making sure the frontline outlets have the advertised products.

The milage on my truck rental when I picked it up was not the same as on the computer and as a result when I returned it I waited 3/4 of an hour to get the situation resolved. I have rented here be fore and will again but waiting was not in my plan.

When you reserve a certain size truck...you want to know that size truck will be available ..and not have to use a larger truck...also the truck reserved will be available at the location you reserved from.

I've rented from here numerous times and never had an issue. My only complaint is that this location is understaffed on weekends. It's a busy hub and the weekend waits are very long to get service.

YOur survey is ridiculous ..how would you rate this location...the location is good but I think you mean to say ..."how do you rate this business opertaion?" A little feedback for you: ...I called the day before in the morning ..three different times about 7:30 then 8:00 then 8:30 ...in every case while the call was answered quickly the person at the end said " can you hold please?" HOwever in every case they did not wait for an answer but immediately put me on hold and I then waited for about 15 minutes before hanging up. As I said this was not a one-off ..it happened exactly the same al three times. I booked a truck last night which I planned on picking up at 8 am this morning. When I got there although more staff in yard there was only 1 person on the counter and two people in front of me and a few behind. It took about a half hour to get my truck. Interestingly while I waited the phone ran a couple times and I watched this gentleman quickly answer and say "can you hold" and then immediately place on hold never to be responded to. It is clear to me having operated a number of successful businesses in my life that YOU ARE UNDER STAFFED AT THE COUNTER. So many things are right about the way you operate but this is a major turnoff.

The 10' truck i reserved for 930am was confirmed for 230pm then unavailable. Finally received a 15' truck at 445pm, losing the help I had arranged for my move, forcing me to load the truck by myself causing injury. When at the pick up office i asked about the "$50 reservation guaratee" as I qualified according to the placards and website describing this "guarantee". Questions were deflected by the clerk..."oh i don't know anything about that...ask them at the drop off location. Its a fake guarantee isn't it? Just a trick to further convince people to use your company without any intention of actually honoring the guarantee, shameful... The truck i did finally receive smelled terribly of cat urine, but as it was already nearly 3 hours after the truck was "confirmed" for, I had to accept it...the whole experience with this location was terrible and I look forward to never needing to use this company again...

Truck cab leaked water from roof liner into cup holders. Passenger sun visor fell off onto passengers feet. I guess metal fatigue. Otherwise great truck which covered about 2800 miles.

I rented a pick up for an hour and it cost me $50 bucks so that could be improved somewhat it was a waste of money. I could have got a friend to haul my bed for $25 dollars now that I know what is cost I will do that in the future.

I was treated disgracefully by the General Manager of this location upon return of the equipment I rented. Walking away, throwing hands in the air, and refusing to help a customer discuss and resolve a multitude of problems is not indicative of the role of any manager in the service industry. Perhaps some remedial training in this area would be helpful for your Victoria location GM. Based on all of the disappointing experiences I had with UHaul, I will not use any of their services again.
