I was very disappointed with the customer service I received at this U-Haul location. From the moment I arrived, the representatives appeared uninterested and unhappy to assist customers. I was not greeted with a simple “hello” or “welcome.” Instead, the representative opened the window without acknowledging me or making any effort to provide a welcoming customer experience. I asked whether I could rent a van instead of the truck I had reserved because, with the current gas prices, I wanted to find out whether a van would be a more economical option. Rather than getting up and coming to the window to explain my options, the representative turned to another employee who was sitting down and asked him my question. The other employee remained seated and simply answered “no” from across the room. There was no explanation, no discussion of available options, and no effort to help me understand why a van was not an option. I was also told that the 10' truck I was being given had no gas and that I would need to put gas in it myself. What I found particularly frustrating was that there were several other 10' trucks sitting in the U-Haul lot, so I did not understand why I was assigned a truck with no gas when other trucks appeared to be available. I did not want to argue with the representative or create a confrontation, so I simply accepted the truck and left. The representative did tell me that I would be refunded for the gas I had to put into the truck. However, when I returned the truck, I was not given a receipt or any explanation regarding the gas refund. I specifically asked the same representative who had assisted me initially when I could expect the refund, and his response was that he did not know and that I should call U-Haul to find out. Overall, I left this location feeling extremely disappointed. I understand that employees can have difficult or busy days, but basic courtesy, communication, and customer service should still be expected. A simple greeting, a willingness to explain the available options, and clear information about the gas reimbursement would have made a significant difference. Unfortunately, based on this experience, I would not choose to rent from this location again. I hope management takes this feedback seriously and works on improving the customer experience for future customers.
