The place looks good and secure. I did not like that Uhaul nickel and dime. I went over a few miles and had to pay extra $14usd. I returned the truck 48 hours bedore schedule and with more fuel than when I got it. And that was not recognized. I like how I was helpep by the personnel but the rules of the company do not match that. Only will use it again if there are no more possibilities.

I drove 40 minutes to pick up a 26 ft truck with an auto transporter just to find the truck wasn't there. I understand some people bring equipment back late however, I courtesy call saying the truck wasn't there yet would have been nice.

The rep was friendly however very difficult to get her to understand she had to initiate a refund for a hand cart I rented from U Haul I never got when I left the office. I made numerous phone calls to get her to give a refund. It took calling the 1800-Go Uhaul to challenge the $10.00 charge. The rep at the Yorktown U Haul finally called me and she told me she would initiate the refund of $10.00. Ms Bonnie at Stafford had to call the rep at Yorktown to explain to her that she cannot give me the refund since she was not the vendor to rent me the equipment. Ms. Bonnie still could not get the vendor in Yorktown to understand she had to initiate the refund. The rep at Yorktown did apologize for the misunderstanding and friendly. I looked this morning to see if the $10.00 refund was pending on my credit card and still do not see anything pending. Some of the issue was my fault for not verifying the hand cart was on the truck. I assumed the cart was in the back of the truck. However when speaking to U Haul reps they should be more accommodating to rectify issues when they are brought to their attention. I have used U Haul on numerous occasions and this is the first time I had any issues. I consider U Haul top notch and hope I do not have issue like this again. In fact I have two more reservation for July and August for my move from Newport News to Stafford VA.

I have rented from U-Haul several times and have never be able to pick up the equipment near where I wanted to pick it up. I have had to travel +- 30 miles to get the equipment.

My name is Toni A. Paesano Shute (email: toni.shute72@gmail.com). I made the reservation for my son, Erik W. Eastham to pick up a 26' truck and a trailer to pull a 2005 convertible Volkswagon. I answered all the questions: did we have a professional Uhaul hitch on the 2004 Honda Odyssey? The answer was yes. I sent my son the money needed to rent the truck and trailer. I gave Uhaul his contact information and was told they would be contacted by Uhaul as the date for departure from VA to PA approached. When my son was contacted by Uhaul, he was told to pick up the truck and trailer at the Yorktown site. I have retained the services of Uhaul throughout my life. Never in my life or in my experiences with Uhaul was I prepared for what my son, his wife, and his two small children (ages 3 and 1) were forced to endure. My son and his wife were informed upon their arrival at the Yorktown site that they would have to get the Volkswagon onto the trailer, hitch it to the Honda, wrap straps around the tires oif the Volkswagon (and whateve else they were forced to do to secure it) because the Uhaul representative was unable to complete this task. Is it your practice to have the customer perform this task? I would hope the answer is NO. My son drove the truck off the lot, my daughter-in-law drove the Honda (with her two small children in car seats in the back of Honda) and pulled the Volkswagon that she and my son had hitched. While traveling on a major interstate it soon became apparent to my daughter-in-law that she was in an unsafe situation. The trailer was scraping the road, the trailer was shaking, the trailer was struggling to pull the Volkswagon. It was not properly secured. She put on her hazard lights, she traveled at a speed of 30-40 miles an hour on a major interstate, she let my son know in the truck behind her that she needed to pull off the interstate and get to the Uhaul in Hampton. They had been there before and knew where it was. When they got there the representative was shocked by what he saw and what they told him they were asked to do in Yorktown. He disconnected the trailer and told them to leave the trailer and Volkswagon there with him. he told them to go home load the truck and come back in the morning and he would properly hitch the volkswagon to the 26' truck. I am the Superintendent of a school system. My customers are the children in my district. I am responsible for ensuring that they are provided with a safe and healthly environment and the best education possible. Like me, Uhaul is responsible for the safety and well-being of its customers. Uhaul put my son and his family in an unsafe environment. Uhaul asked my son and his wife to perform a task that was the responsibility of Uhaul not the responsibility of the customer. I have spoken to Customer service on three different occasions (all of which were recorded). My son was given a $40.00 credit for this egregious, unsafe, situation that he and his fam

My only concern is the fact that you charge me $.58 a mile per gallon of gas but yet I'm required to return it with the same amount of gas as it was given to me. While I understand that this is much cheaper in the long run a $20 rental plus taxes & fees turns into almost a $50 rental for six hours of use because essentially you double charge me for gas used.

We made reservation for a 9am pick up time. The person working didn't show up until 20 mins after. All she said was "sorry, grabbed the wrong keys". The trucks engine light was on and when I brought it to her attention she said "I'll make a note of it and call us if their is an issue". So I guess we were just hoping nothing was wrong with it. We did not have any issues but we only drove it 5 or 6 miles total so thats a good thing. Things happen obviously but would have hoped for a more pleasent experience.

There is a rock chip in the windshield that happened after I dropped it off. They are charging me for a whole windshield. The truck also had previous damage when I picked it up.
