Glossary
solar wind
Solar wind is composed of highly charged particles ejected from the sun.
The solar wind is deflected by the earth's magnetic field, but it changes that
field, compressing it on the sunward side and extending it away from the sun.
corona
The luminous envelope of highly ionized gas outside the chromosphere of the sun.
geomagnetic storm
A geomagnetic storm occurs when unusually strong surges of solar wind
(charged particles from the sun) hit the Earth. This effect causes variations
in the magnetic field which surrounds the Earth.
madjet
Translated literally; becoming strong. Referring to the growth Ra experienced as he traveled through the sky.
