The Roswell Incident
The Roswell Incident

Eyewitness Accounts: Philip J. Corso

Army Colonel Philip J. Corso (Ret.) was a member of President Eisenhower's National Security Council and former head of the Foreign Technology Desk at the U.S. Army's Research & Development Department. In his 1997 book The Day After Roswell, he wrote about his experience in July of 1947 at Ft. Riley in Kansas. He claimed a convoy of five two-and-half ton trucks pulling trailers stopped at Ft. Riley on their way to Wright Field in Ohio.

Although the cargo aboard this transport convoy was top secret, Col. Corso claimed he managed to get a look at what was inside one of the crates. He reported that the crate contained an EBE (extraterrestrial biological entity). [classified][classified][classified]. The creature he wrote about was enclosed in thick glass container and suspended in a thick, light-blue liquid. The EBE was four feet tall, and had pale gray skin. Corso also wrote that the creature had four fingers, no thumb, an over-sized head, large almond-shaped eyes, a tiny nose that did not protrude from the skull, no protruding ears, no facial hair and a tiny slit for a mouth.[classified] [classified][classified].

According to his book, Corso inherited the Roswell Files, a collection of data and artifacts from U.S. Intelligence sources, at the Pentagon in 1961. Corso wrote that technology from the Roswell Files was leaked to key government contractors, resulting in the development of today's lasers, integrated circuitry and fiber-optic networks. In early 1998, Arizona-based Citizens Against UFO Secrecy (CAUS) filed a lawsuit based largely on the Corso book, asking the government to open up the secret files they say it holds regarding the 1947 Roswell Incident. Updates regarding the status of the Freedom of Information Act request and lawsuit are posted on the CAUS website.
